Kathy, this is an excellent series on winter modeling. Thank you for demonstrating all the different snow products and how you apply them. Also, thank you for the previous episode where you tested some alternative options, such as the baking powder.

I like the end result of the deluxe materials products the most. The Tamiya effect also looks very good but maybe it fits better with a larger scale. Thanks for showing the differences of those products. That is very helpful

winter in southern new england was so dismal this year. this morning i was scraping snowy ice and by early afternoon it was 50 (10c)! i think i have watched more of your snow modeling videos this year than it has actually snowed, lol!

That Foam Snow in the grass looks good for a light dusting effect or a partial melt in a field. It might also actually work for NScale
@KathyMillatt5 жыл бұрын
N scale is so tricky to get right and just a simple dry brush may be best as you suggest.

im pulled between the AK and Tamiya. I've just based some 28mm WW2 Eastern Front Germans with GW Valhallan Blizzzard but there are brown dots coming through either from the basecoat on the base or the basing. I like the grittiness of the Tamiya but would be worried that the AK would look too much like xmas cake icing. Thanks for the video!!
@KathyMillatt4 жыл бұрын
I sprayed a sealant coat before putting my snow on to stop any bleed. It was worrying me too.

They say there balloonballs are for all scales now! I use 1.35 myself but should try it for 00

Hi, with the AK terrains snow, how are you getting it to dry so smooth? I keep getting the edge lines from the wood tool.
@KathyMillatt2 жыл бұрын
It is a real problem but try a different tool or even your finger or a brush to smooth it at the end.

What would you recommend for 1/6 scale 12 inch figures say on boots and helmets of a soldier. Which paste would you recommend for larger 1/6 scale?
@KathyMillatt7 ай бұрын
I think the pastes I tested are all pretty similar in scalability so whichever one gives the colour you like and you can get hold of. I’d add microballoons over the top whilst it’s wet if you want a newer snow finish.
@austinyingst59025 жыл бұрын
One nice feature with the pastes: you don't have to turn the layout upside down to remove loose material. LOL

for snow @ a HO/OO scale- what would you recommend (train layout)
@KathyMillatt5 жыл бұрын
I’ve done so many videos on the different options and it really comes down to what snow you’re modelling. My go to by the end is AK Interactive diorama snow for thick snow and Micro Balloons for the powder.
@itolond5 жыл бұрын
@@KathyMillatt thx, I am looking and moderately thick fading down a mountain - with some ice/snow roads
@KathyMillatt5 жыл бұрын
itolond you’ll need to use a number of methods and experiment a bit but those two products will work. Over a larger area, I’d look fir something cheaper and even just pain the scenery white and cover with the micro balloons.
