49:58 - FoW has never had different stats for the LMG armed team of a squad compared to the rifle team, it's always been abstracted across the whole platoon with all bases being Rifle/LMG teams and firing the same amount of dice. The reason they give you extra infantry with Germans is becuase you need more LMG figures to make Panzergrenadiers who have an LMG on each base and fire more dice accordingly. It's been that way since 1st edition. 👍

I had the V3 starter set and I was pretty sure it had rifle bases and rifle/mg bases for the german infantry.

@@ModellingforAdvantage It depended on the type, grenadiers were rifle/mg teams with ROF2, so some bases were just rifles, but Panzergrenadiers were full MG teams with ROF3

Great review and getting tempted to over come my aversion to building a German army. Interesting point about if forward firing guns turn to face the target. My gut feeling is yes.

You always turn your tank (or turret) to face the target, which is a free action. For tanks with the Forward Firing rule, however, the target has to be in the front arc before you can declare it as a target. So if the enemy is outside your front firing arc, you would need to use a move order to turn the tank, thus using your moving rate of fire.

Aye - the question which I am not sure you have answered - is does the forward firing vehicle turn to point its gun towards the target directly as a turret would have to... this might leave an SPG exposing its side armour... You see a tank with a turret was in arc - that is not why it had to turn its turret.

@@ModellingforAdvantage after checking the rule book P55 it is a yes. ‘Limited Fields of Fire - Some weapons have a limited Field of Fire (see Forward Firing on Page 93 as an example). They may only target or allocate hits to a Team within their Field of Fire. Units can end their movement facing any direction, so when you move Units that have a limited Field of Fire, point them at their intended target’. I think the next bit is intended cover if you need to change your intended target with teams with Limited Fields of Fire. As long as the target is in the Field of Fire. ‘Rotate To Face- Rotate the Team to point its main weapon or weapons at the declared target Team. This is a free rotation as part of Shooting, and is not movement. If the weapon is mounted in a turret, you rotate the turret to point at the target Team, or rotate the whole model up to a quarter turn (90 degrees) to point at the target Team, Rotating the turret, the rest of the way’. After reading up on it i think could have saved time and a lot of swearing when I built my Lees making sure the main guns could rotate :)

@@aledroberts6580 Nice one mate thanks - so an SPG does need to turn to face its target then - poiting directly at it with the main gun. That seems quite likely to expose flanks sometimes.

Where do you guys get all this Wave 7 stuff from Gale Force Nine? They don't even mention them on their website so far. Wave 6 just now released here in Europe. !?

Here in ther UK they have received it earlier than expected at the warehouse and so they were able to just send one out with my order for this set. I think you can expect it on general release very soon.

I would not want to be infantry looking down the 4 barrels of the Werblewind... 4 automatic 2cm cannons blazing away can sure make a mess of infantry, or light armored vechiles. ROF of 20 dice not moving for 9 points ouch.... That could be interesting for defensive fire feeding off assaulting Soviet infantry...
