The problem with Revit over archicad is the amount of menus you have to click through to get what you want. Archicad does a much better job at being intuitive for beginners. As proven by the fact that the first step is to "draw a reference plane" while the archicad tutorial starts with drawing walls in a floorplan like a designer would think to start a project.

this doesnt make sense at all. architecture is all about geometry and reflection on volumes a designer should have basic notions of geometry such as manipulating planes and references its a part of our job as designers to understand the mechanism of forms. There isnt one way for a designers to design i dont know why people love to generalize one strict way u can do it however u want and studying volumes first instead of floorplans is one of em

@@oussamamouisset1502 sure a geometry can be a valid starting point for a design. My point is, no sane architect ever started a project with the words "okay let's imagine an infinite vertical plane". Archicad throws less curveballs and is more intuitive for beginners

@@alexzwanenburg4009unfortunately most architects these days do work this way, even if just due to revit's prevalence.

Thanks for this little tutorial. I want to make my Cabin model exactly the same as yours but seem to be missing the 'Basic Roof' and 'Basic Wall' properties that you specify. I have the very latest Revit. Is this normal? Can I get them anywhere, or do I have to create them myself? I am a beginner at Revit and trying to teach myself through video tutorials and a few freinds.

Would love it if revit can do t-spline modelling/massing. Or box modelling turbosmooth from 3ds max. Or can distort 3d assets scale in enscape.... Anyways, its a program for documentation & clash detection. I think im asking for too much.

Could you do a video using Autodesk Character Generator and then import it into Revit? It might be nice to include a digital replica of the customer in a 3D rendering.

Revit is so exciting to work with, it help and save too much time than modeling it in 3ds Max, I actually love Max but Revit like this gonna save me a lot of time then apply Material and do some good lighting in 3ds Max also then render.👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
