Modern Cinnamon Farming and Cinnamon Processes
Hello engineering friends.
Cinnamon tree is a type of spice-producing tree that is produced from the dry inner bark, which has a very sweet and spicy aroma. People, usually use spices in sweet baked foods, hot wines and also used medicinally. There are 4 types of cinnamon commonly found in the market.
1. Cassia cinnamon (saigon cinnamon) where this cinnamon is the most popular variant in East Asia and the United States.
2. Cinnamon verum (ceylon cinnamon) This cinnamon comes from Sri Lanka and South India but is widely grown in Mexico and East Africa.
3. Loureiroi cinnamon (royal cinnamon) This type of cinnamon is quite difficult to find in the global market and most of this type is grown in central Vietnam so it is often also known as Vietnamese cinnamon.
4. Burmannii cinnamon (Indonesian cinnamon) This cinnamon comes from Southeast Asia.
Burmanni and cassia cinnamon commonly grown in Indonesia have a long harvest life. This cinnamon takes 6-12 years until the cinnamon bark is ready for production. Moreover, if farmers want a high essential oil content in cinnamon between 3.5-4.5%, the farmers must wait until they are 20 years old. However, this is different from the conditions in Sri Lanka. Cinnamon in this country is used as a staple crop, this is because cinnamon trees in Sri Lanka are rare and can be harvested every 2 years. For more details, let's watch this video.
