This car features a 250hp six cylinder mated to a smooth 6 speed manual transmission and features an exhaust note that is addictive over 4,000 rpm.
This is probably one of the best performance bargains available on the market right now but... prices are escalating quickly as the enthusiast market has begun to snatch them up.
We are going to give you a walk around of the car and then we are going to give driving impressions and tell you why you need one now.
These cars are subject to the dreaded IMS issues and this car has had its IMS bearing replaced. The clutch was also replaced during the service.

Yep, values going up up up. Bought my 2003 Boxster S in October 2019. I figured the market had hit rock bottom and I think that was it. Hard to say with COVID-19 but prices have only gone up since. Sure, I have faster cars with newer tech but if it's nice out and I'm not dragging the kids around, the Boxster has been the primary choice of transportation. So pure and connected. I've also never been a convertible guy and I'd still prefer a Cayman but there is something to be said for driving with the top down on a beautiful day.

Oh that airbag light. It can pop up after you fix the window regulator. The 986 is a great car. You don't buy this car for the 0-60 time, you buy it for the experience.

I enjoyed the video and appreciate your work. Just as an FYI, I would be a little bit more sparing in the music use. At one point you said how great and beautiful the engine sound is as it runs out, and then music started playing, so we never heard the motor. Thats a bit disappointing.

I bought a 2000 S in October 2020 for $8,500. I put another $4k into general updates / refresh with local independent Porsche mechanic. Drives great!

I went ahead and did the IMs RMS clutch and overflow tank.. Probably got a little bit more than 4k in repairs. But now I don't have to worry about it.

Even though they say the IMs failure rate is small. The first thing someone's going to ask you when they are purchasing one from you is if it has been done. So there is more value in having the IMs done and a fresh clutch.

People keep raising its performance as a negative, I own a 2003 s version it is by no means a slow car 0-60 is achieved in 5.6 seconds so quick enough. Floor it in 4th gear at 70mph and you can really feel it pull, the performance is in the top of the rev range. Its handling is the best feature and can have a lot of fun with pcm turned off.

Yes… you’re correct. When we recorded, the engine sound was distorted and sounded terrible. Ultimately we should’ve re-recorded it but we didn’t know until editing. It was clearly an oversight that I’m reminded of again and again. Thank you for watching though. Prices escalated quicker than I forecasted but it’s still a phenomenal car.
