This Guard van needs 1. New revolving chairs 2. Communication set installed in van, prevents walki talki carried by guards 3. Battery charger with DC power generator motor connected to wheel for power supply in cabin 4. False sealing roof to prevent heat and cold penetrating in cabin and toilet 5. CCTV monitor for camera installed at various points on Van And Engine with GPS transmission to all nearest station receiver 6. This shall provide first information to nearest station about any accident between station 7. This van should have stretcher With first Aid 8. This Van should have water storage filling and overhead tank drains. OVERHEAD TANK should be equal to length of roof top shall prevent need of false sealing 9. Van should have Digital writing screen to send report immediately received by nearest station and or received by guard from nearest station as well as both recorded for respective goods train or train, this shall prevent guard to carry any writing mode need during traveling. IF YOU WANT TO IMPROVE GUARD VAN IMPROVE IT PROPERLY THEY ARE ALSO RESPONSIBLE PERSON CARRYING RESPONSIBILITY OF INDIAN RAILWAY PROPERTY, INDIAN BUSINESS SECTOR RESPONSIBILITY, INDIAN ECONOMY IMPROVEMENT, EMERGENCY SUPPLY AND AID RESPONSIBILITY, PETROLEUM PRODUCTS RESPONSIBILITY AND SO ON. Yes, also there is no toilet in engine for loco pilots, and in summer temp of engines is 50 degree it's very difficult to drive train, there should be AC in engines

Train produce its own electricity mostly using big dynamos inside it, so it's not necessary for solar panel which still requires battery and controller.

Actually goods train never pass through water hydrants as such water tanks are not provided in goods brake van. The facility is provided only for emergency use & guard carry water with them during duty.

They can add an overhead water tank so that the guards can shower shave and do everything. There must be provision for a socket to make tea coffee etc because in winter its very cold.in.olden days dream loco drivers were given jaggery also to make tea and at times the guard also could get his share .most of the goods train do not stop at stations for simple provisions.

It's good that washroom has been provided in guard vans. Is there any overhead water tank in it? Lights and fans should also be provided. In such iron chambers, we can understand the plight of goods train guards, especially during summer. Something needs to be done.

I think the problem is the attitude of the leadership which doesn't consider it to be important at all and all that matters is the financial numbers... Also, I have seen many people in India, who have this weird attitude that employees mean slaves and hence should not be given basic amenities or even human consideration to "keep them in their place"... These are the kind of people who take offence at seeing their maid/servant sitting on a chair and insist that they always only sit on the floor and don't allow them to use the toilet at home or have fresh food... It is incredibly pathetic...

To start with he serves as Goods Train Guard. OMG at that time d Guard van so tough, small, all metal. Soo much of sound while moving. Only urinals like, no nproper seats, no vacuum break system like now. I travelled on few occassions. In the open area, woe, wonderful feelings. Open view of nature in motion, as U rightly said. Thank God I have enjoyed. Let Allah sot bless my Abba, Amm, who were so nice, humble. I always cherish those Golden, peaceful days. I love Railways, it z in my blood. For few months I worked too. Alas, I should not have left that job I think u should work on ur commentry, fluency etc. If have pictures of old guard van, share please. Anyways thanks for information. Keep it up, all the best. But what about a lights inside the guard van. A small portable generator should be placed inside in case the guard had to write something. In foreign countries there are no guard vans attached at the end of the goods train. Instead of spending so much on guard van, old train coach could have been modified and attached at the end of goods train.
