I like Volatile Stormdrake because you can use it as removal and get some energy counters in a pinch. You can keep the energy counters and choose to not pay any, so the traded creature gets sacrificed immediately no matter what the cmc of it is, and your opponent is left with a 3/2 flyer with an easily worked around ability that still leaves it way open to removal. It dies to a Shock and goes back to your graveyard.

17:31 so you get your rare/mythic slot (Nadu). Then you get the “new to modern” slot at uncommon or rare/mythic (Victimize). Then Coram shows up in the “wildcard” slot. Definitely weird looking at a rare, then an uncommon, and a mythic in sequence, but it can happen

The commander cards are a wasted pull more often than not. The power creep though means you will at least have another good option.

I mind them less in the collector boxes than I do in the Play Boosters. Pulling a “Mythic” in my pack I’m drafting with that has a bonus for each time it has been played out of the command zone feels really bad…

I think we have similar views on MH3. Limited is not super good from my experience. There are too many bombs and too many weird commander cards in the rare slots so decks can get really imbalanced. It’s a great set to open though. Super deep rare and mythics, fetch lands are always useful, the full art medallions are really really great. Neat set, but I’m waiting for bloomburrow or throwback drafts for my limited experience.

It’s still early for me but right now the draft archetypes seem a little narrow in MH3. That said… I love the set. Echoing your comments, deep at both Rare and Mythic level. I’m excited about stocking my binder with fetches too.

@@WildcatMTG I doubt we will ever be rid of the commander cards now. Since technically the commanders are "Mythic" I think Hasbro sees them as "preceived value" even if most players see them as a waste of a slot. I would honestly prefer if they took some of the new and interesting rares from the decks and gave you 4 - 6 per box as second or third rares in the pack. If people like the face commander they are probably already interested in the deck it commands. Seeing a cool new rare from the 99 of the decks would maybe spark interest in people who may have dismissed the commanders or not even looked at the decks yet. I could be way off base on this too. I haven't slept in three so brain no work good!
