Nice work. Bruda, the back light thing is cool for a while. If you want more immersion from your display, paint the wall behind it Matt black. The darkest black you can find. During night time viewing you will not know where the wall ends and the display begins. It pretty cool…js

I use a Philips HDMI Sync Box with a Hue light strip behind my current old 55” TV. Agree that light sync greatly adds immersion. I plan on getting the Samsung S95C over the LG G3 for that reason, since Samsung has exclusive access to the Philips HDMI Sync TV app meaning light sync will work without any other equipment such as an HDMI box or cameras. It’ll also work on TV apps and remove HDMI bottlenecks (4K 2.1, VRR, etc.)

Philips hue is very pricey but I'm waotomg for the 2.1 version of their sync box to see if its any good cause I don't really like the one I have there right now. Also that's great that the Samsung works well with the Hue loghts without any additional equipment 🔥

I don't know if the led strip is too short or the TV is too close to the wall but there are cold spots in the four corners and the lights bounce is very narrow.

Man.. so many compromises for the stupid backlight LEDs which take away from the movie imo. You don't need these gimmick lights flashing all sorts of colors when you're trying to perceive the purest picture quality/highest fidelity. It's also pretty bad for the signal path that go in these cheap looking boxes.. Just get yourself a nice receiver and a proper dolby atmos installation with high quality Hi-Fi speakers, that would be a way better investment. Oh yeah, not to mention that first clip were you tilted the TV at a sports bar angle just to get the lights working with a cock underneath the screen... why.. just why. At least you fixed that.

Unless you have a static backlight with the right color temperature of white it is just gimmick which doesn't give you a better picture. And does your sync box allow for Dolby Vision passthrough? And the G series is flush mounting, so being negative about a missing stand just shows you didn't do your research before buying. It looks great, but personally I don't like the gimmicky backlight.

The box that came with the RGB light is affecting everything you watch as all the HDMI ports are 4K 60Hz 2.0 and it doesn't support 2.1 or more than 60hz. Your TV can deliver much better quality if you would use it without that box as right now it's cutting off 60hz and may also affect the sound quality as well. I own the same TV and I'm doing now some research for ambient light behind my tv but I didn't want to order the kit you have because I'm afraid of loosing quality. Please reply to my comment if I'm wrong as I may reconsider and buy that kit if you say that it doesn't affect quality. Cheers ! :)

In fact, I'm planning to buy an Oled TV, but my usage will be for FIFA games and some other games like COD and story-driven games, as well as watching football matches, TV shows, and movies. ‏I'm interested in what I see on OLED screens in terms of blackness and contrast, and it's really incredible. But if there is a burn-in issue, that would be a really, really miserable scenario, especially for an expensive screen that I expect to last me 5 to 7 years without any issues. @techbymidas Great living room and great video but your ambient lightstrip looks rather basic, you need to get the more premium Philips Hue gradient light strip with Philips hue sync box and see the difference.

I would go get a lg c3 but lg’s screen uniformity is not where I’d like it to be…I’d be playing the panel lottery..vertical banding..pink tint..dirty screen effect..so I save myself the stress so I can have a piece of mind and go get the sony A95L once it’s released

Cool install video. Remember that the G series is for gallery and it’s meant to be wall mounted with its flush wall mounting system. Like a picture frame. That’s why the tv is built different than a C series

Regarding the stand, that's the whole point of the G series. It's a gallery tv and noone should be shocked when they don't find a stand in the box. If you need a stand then buy a C oled.

Beforehand, I checked to see how the plugin part of the power cable would affect the mount and realized it wouldn't have worked with the flush mount. It barely fit with the low profile mount I used in its place and I wasn't ready to take any more chances drilling into this wall again.

@GeoDim Backlight was fine actually. I passed the single USB-C cable it had behind the wall and connected that to the switcher inside the wall mounted stand. It didn't have some massive power block to deal with but the TV power cable is too dangerous to pass behind the wall so I had to plug that in behind the TV but the shape of the plugin would have been a problem to deal with later.

You need to be careful of burn in ,someone I know played games and had bad burn in with oled ,, 3 hrs a day he said he played and still got burn in ,,manufacturer’s will tell you they have reduced it but in reality if you have a static image on your screen for too long you will get burn in or a dirty screen ,, be careful is my advice,, I just use mine for movies ,, and my led for sports channels as they have a static image on it ….remember TVs that are the same make and model perform differently, people don’t realise this ,,2 G3’s can be different,one can be worse with burn in than the other .

Burn in hasn’t really been a issue for a few years now. I have a 5 year old c8 with a little over 17,000 hours on it that I play games on 4-6 hours a day. It doesn’t show any signs of minimap or hud burn in or from tv channel logos. The newer lg oleds have even better anti burn in features. No need to baby sit it or do anything special. It does it all on its own at pre set times

Haha, it’s not a screensaver, what you’re seeing is the reflection of the glowing artwork hanging on his wall being reflected onto the black screen at that specific timestamp you gave. You can still see it even when the tv is being used before he swaps to the new tv.
