Two 20-somethings take the next step in their long-distance cyber romance: meeting in
person for the first time during an exotic vacation in Doha. Will their tech-enabled feelings hold true in real life?
Why it was chosen: "Loved its warmth in dealing with contemporary ideas in regards to relationships and the internet. In contrast to the others, it had a more narrative approach that I thought was very well done." -- Roman Coppola
Winning Screenwriter: Amy Jacobowitz
Amy Jacobowitz graduated from UCLA in 2011 and works in PR for an advertising agency in Los Angeles. Filmmaking has always been her first love.
Director: Lee Toland Krieger
Lee Toland Krieger's 2012 feature, Celeste and Jesse Forever, was a breakout hit at this year's Sundance Film Festival. The film was released by Sony Pictures Classics and starred Andy Samberg and Rashida Jones. Krieger has written and directed a number of features and shorts over the last few years. He was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Screenplay for his 2009 film The Vicious Kind.
Featuring: Robert Schwartzman
Robert Schwartzman is the lead singer of the Los Angeles rock band Rooney. He has written and produced hit songs and albums for Rooney that have topped the charts worldwide. Schwartzman has spent years of his life touring globally, building a loyal fan base both in the US and overseas. He recently released his first solo album, Double Capricorn, on his record label California Dreamin' Records. Growing up in a film family, Schwartzman always had a passion for films and has acted in several films, including Sofia Coppola's The Virgin Suicides and Garry Marshall's The Princess Diaries. Recently, he acted and scored Gia Coppola's short film Casino Moon and Lee Toland Krieger's Modern/Love.
Featuring: Naomi Scott
Naomi Scott is a young English actress who starred as Maddy Shannon on Steven Spielberg's TV series Terra Nova. She also starred as Mohini "Mo" Banjaree on the Disney Channel original movie Lemonade Mouth.
Intel and W Hotels created Four Stories to identify and support rising visionaries in filmmaking, and provide them with a platform to share their talent with audiences around the world.
Four winning scripts, inspired by iconic W Hotels destinations and the mobility of the Intel-inspired Ultrabook™, were chosen from nearly 1000 submissions from aspiring filmmakers worldwide. They were selected by a panel of entertainment industry insiders and filmmakers, and developed into short films.
Roman Coppola and his production company, The Directors Bureau, matched the four scripts with some of today's most talented young directors and actors to bring each winner's vision to life.
The resulting four films, plus an original short by Coppola himself, were shot at some of W Hotels' most exotic and cutting-edge locations - from the Maldives and Hollywood to Doha, Washington D.C. and Mexico City - and feature the Ultrabook as a central character.
Four Stories is part of The Ultrabook Experience: a series of collaborations between Intel and innovative companies worldwide, enabled by the Ultrabook - a new category of computing devices powered by Intel.

I loved the transitions - from personal narrative, to their conversation online, to their personal fantasies, back to inner dialogue, then their first meeting. They gave the impression of "scenes", something most short films don't have.

This is why I love short films... they prove that you don't need two hours, a million dollar budget, or big name actors to get your audience to feel something. Can't remember the last movie couple I cared about as much as these two.

SO much better than the countless other "online dating meet-up" films I've seen. This is real life - we've all got our fantasies, but sometimes they just can't become reality. But sometimes, reality is even more special.

As someone who met her spouse online, I can say this this little film does an amazing job at expressing the thoughts of someone meeting their virtual penpal for the first time. The nerves, the anticipation, the doubt... spot-on.

She is pretty on the inside, innovative, imagination, inspiration Naomi Scott what an attractive beauty. I would consider this a new genre of multimedia poetry showing desire, fear, regret, saudade, and ending in divine appointment irony. So many emotions on the edge of a cliff like overlooking out the window from the skyscraper seeing the sunset. I'm inspired to compose my own after watching this. If I could do a remix to this video, although the silent moment in the cab is necessary, and this maybe too romantic for a first encounter, I would find a way to somehow fit Bob Marley's 1979 version of "Waiting in Vain" with the version that has full reverb on mute guitar, slight echo with the sound of waves crashing wispering pianissississimo in the background of the cab when they find out who they are, then they inquisitively stare and smile at each other.

Realizing there is a selling point to be made, the short itself is pretty still pretty good. Technology, regardless of brand, is the major piece behind this how this story unfolds. The timing is great and the cinematography is spot on. It reminds me a bit of a chapter in my own life.

Nerves! The fantasy build up from two years of corresponding through images of each other cooked up in the course of blind online messages. The sweetness of the ending is that in the end good old fashioned synchronicity won't let them avoid meeting after all. It's meant to be.

Column -The endless love- or "convicted to love" by Orhan Sokoli Both overcame fear in meeting each other in pearson. In cyberlife it is much easier to be and to say whatever u like. But in real life it takes more than being able to travel to long distance places to improve ur love. If a man is not able to improve his love in his hometown, then he will never be able to act differently somewhere else. In my oppinion this short-movie showed the missunderstanding of love. I mean to say: If we human think that love is up to a woman or a man, then we will always end up brokenhearted, lonley and frustrated, especially when the day comes and the one person u love passes away. Many peopel of us dream of the endless love. But what is that? Some of us has got the answer to it. The answer is simple as well as shoking. It is the love to the creator. Not in the sense of beinig radical, fanatical or whatever else. It is about being in love with God. Only this love is endlessly. When we have reached this state, then we are ready for the love between a woman and a man. This love is then TRUE and andlessly, because u do not love the person. U love the person in which u can see the power of God. The paradies lies up on the feet of a mother. But who is a mother? Every woman is a mother. It is said: the marriage is the completion of a religon of a man. But why only of a man? It is because a woman is already complete and that's why we say today "my better half". We man are in need of the love of a woman. Sadly, most of us man abuses this feeling for love by ... u know what I mean. ... The good thing about it is, that these men don't know why they're doing it. They think it is because of sexuall needs or the beauty of a woman. Both cases can be true. But after all is said and done, the spirit of love has gone? And the woman waits for a call, vainly. Tho, if u make the woman understand that u love her impact, her design, because it remands u of God in the sense of being thankfull to God and u worthship only God, then the love between u and her can became a worship service. I know this might sounds strange, but try to think about it. And yes I call myself a fan of God. I am a Muslim, NOT A TERRORIST! Thank u for reading it. My aim is never to convert somebody to Islam, unless Allah is the onle one, who decides who believes and who not. LOVE ist only one way to the to Allah, but it's the fastest.

Do you remember what part they played the song? I was thinking that this was the song played when she started telling her version of their meeting, is that correct? Also, is it possible the song is called Silver Soul instead of Silver House? Also is there anywhere online to see the original video? Thanks

Kindly don't make ridiculous assumptions about me. I'm not heartless - I wanted to like it, I tried to buy into the story, but I'm sorry there were gaping holes that meant I couldn't. The writer/filmmaker tried to take me on a journey, but I didn't find that journey believable (within the story world) and so it fell flat. Hence, disappointing.
