I would love to set up something like this and provide food for my family and friends. However, I grew up in a time when there were lots of problems for farmers with outbreaks of things like BSE, dot and Mouth disease and saw these hard-working farmers absolutely screwed over by the British government. Despite having meticulous bio security methods in place, they were not allowed to move their animals and take them to market, they were not to move them past the boundaries of their farm, despite having their animals all tested negative for disease. The movement ban lasted well beyond where the animals were no longer of an acceptable age to contribute to the food market. And they were not compensated; those who had infected animals that had to be slaughtered and burned got compensation, because they lost the livestock. But those who could not sell or suffered much reduced prices for their ani Al’s got no compensation at all, because they still had animals they were not able to sell. If governments want initiatives like this, then they need to support their farmers through the tough times, too, not just for the initial set-up.

I worked in a 1300 sow piggery for a number of years here in Australia. That way of farming pigs is frowned apon now . People prefer semi-freerange.

First: That's a corporation or a company. Not individual hog raisers. Second: Australia also has a large land area compared to Philippines. Third: Owning a land in the Philippines for hog farming cost millions unless it is your ancestral property.
