Great shooting guys. I pulled a Sawyer on my attempt in class and shot a .9 1 shot at the 7 but was just an inch wide. Clean the rest of the way. Walked away with a 3/4 baby black belt patch. I'm one the carriers both a Hand held on my person at all times + a WML on my G17 all the time as well. Along with a spare magazine. Both light serve completely different purposes out in the field. I use my HHL "Hand held light" every day for personal and work use. I'm in the PSD field and I'm using it for multiple reasons. Lights are a great tool to add...but you have to use them + learn to manipulate them in your hands/fingers to understand and except the different options you will learn/see from doing so. Off note: You guys are killing it on the progressive skills. All of you are climbing higher n higher each new video. SJ is coming to my range next month and We can't wait.

Nice job! I just completed Scott's 2-day RDS class here in CT. He's an excellent instructor - so far, the best pistol class I've taken. And the drills are really challenging! Just as importantly, the drills give you something to work on on your own, even doing dry fire (to practice the draw). The RDS class is more than just "red dot." He gets deep into core competencies, and he shatters many of the myths perpetuated by so many instructors.

How many of the guys use a wedge on your holster? I'm like A-sizz, I prefer to adjust my holster by one adjustment to allow a better grip from draw, however I feel like it flips my grip out a little bit since I'm not quit as buff as Aaron 😅 so it doesn't sit flat against me.
@Tier1Concealed Жыл бұрын
Some of us use wedges, some don't. It also depends on the gun being carried, typically smaller subcompacts can benefit more from the wedges since they can be a little "top heavy" in the holster.

I think Massad Ayoob made the most salient point on the weapon light issue. To paraphrase... For a self-defense situation, why are you going to use a flashlight? To identify and verify your target. Obviously. This by definition implies that if you identify a non-target, you have now pointed a lethal weapon at a civilian, one who could press charges on you even if you save their life. A handheld light allows you to identify targets, without pointing your weapon at them. Until I hear a better argument, this is the ideology I carry by.

For a civilian who is concealed carrying, a handheld light is the much better option. Get a good handheld and train with it.
@seanoneil2772 жыл бұрын
Having a light is good. But what is the point of intentionally shooting with an inferior grip? You can get a WML and free up that other hand to make a superior grip on the pistol. Why is a handheld better? If it's because you don't want to think you have to use your WML for basic lighting tasks, have a handheld also.
