Modern soldiers with Barricades defend the city from Zombies - Ultimate Epic Battle Simulator UEBS

The sun was scalding that afternoon. Sweat was dropping like a waterfall over the commander's face. He looked with attention and concern into his binoculars. Terrible news today. He picked up his radio questioning the other observers. He received the answers he feared the most. He ordered them to come back to the main position as he would join them in a while. But until he arrives, everyone must remain in silence. Outside the building he's been using as an observation tower, each step was hard. The sweat now dropped chilling cold over his spine. His AR-15 weighed much more in his injured hands. He had no courage to tell them. But as Colonel, he needed to do that. -Boys!? - Shouted him with all his lungs -There are too many of them. There is no way of defending this city. His speaking exploded like a bomb to the already exhausted and desperate soldiers of the Special Zedd Containing Army, or what remained of it, as it shattered their already sombre morale. -Sir! There are any possible escape routes? - Asked his 2nd in Command, Major Sands. -No! - Said Commander Bills with a tomb-like pale face - We are completely surrounded from all sides. And there are not only our pesky runners. We have some Parasites too. The Silence reigned absolutely. The only sound breaking that quiet Dictatorship was the noise of fire burning the debris of the ruined city. But as he was trained for, Sands broke the silence: -What are we gonna do, Sir? The commander puts his hands on Sand's shoulders. -We are going to fight. I'll not die a coward. None of us will. We will put various lines of furniture as barricades. Those vintage things are really resistant. In each line of defence, a small group will fire until each soldier is laying on the ground. The main group stays with Sands in the middle... -But Sir! - Sands Interrupted - Will you die first? -A Captain goes to the depths with his Ship. -Sir! It makes no difference. And maybe we can have a chance. Who knows if those barricades will be stronger than you calculated? If we survive we will need a commander. Under other circumstances, Bills would be screaming with that daring young boy. But as the time is coming, and the disaster is guaranteed: -Major! You dare to question your colonel? - Everybody believed Bills would execute Sands right now, but all of a sudden Bills' expression softened - There is no way we can come out of this alive, my boy. We are doomed. But, if you are correct and a miracle can happen... -Miracles can happen, Sir! -Yes, Sands. But we can not count on miracles. The 23rd can't reach here before tomorrow morning. Sands tried to say one more thing, but the words simply didn't come out of his mouth. -Sands, It's my fault we are trapped here. I underestimated the Zeds. And you warned me. I can not allow you to go first. In case you are correct and the barricades can hold them, you'll become Colonel after that! Sands was efforting himself to don't allow his tears to drop. Silence prevailed. Only the wind howled between the buildings. -Now, enough talking! Each able man must search the buildings and take any table and chest of drawers you can. I want them organized into regular and parallel lines. When the demons reach your range, FIRE! And for you all, fine gentlemen, it was a privilege fighting with you. Let's go! All the squadron shouted "Sir, yes Sir" in loud unison. Bills' words made everyone boost like they were marching toward victory. In less than 10 minutes all the barricades were already positioned. As expected, in a few moments the soldiers in the front started hearing the first grunts. The Zedd's were moving. When the zombies reached the first line of defence, Colonel Bills gave his last command: "Fire until you are dead"! Although they fought like lions, one by one the soldiers fell. Sands saw the horde approaching and was about to farewell his life, but he remembered that before going to the front, Bills gave him his Colonel Comand Tablet, along with his medal. It was already opened into the last stand service, a euphemism for the guided nuke. Bills even had put the Coordinates: They matched the main battalion's position. Sands looked behind Bills' medal and saw a bunch of numbers, the password. Without thinking twice, as he was practically the last man standing, he put the numbers and pressed the red button that appeared on the device's screen. Then, he threw the tablet away and took his rifle again. He knew he would not survive, but in a few moments, all the city and the Zeds would be turned to dust. Sands fired in all directions. Suddenly, he felt a piercing pain in his arm... It was a zombie chewing his flesh. In a matter of seconds, all of his body was being eaten by those monsters. He fell right in that moment, agonizing in pain. Before even touching the ground he already started feeling all of his body burning like he was in a balefire. In his mind, the first thoughts of anger and hungry began exploding while all of his memories began fading away. He always knew that the zombification process was fast. A couple more moments and Major Sands would become only a name in a medal. But tenths of seconds before being totally lost to his new "life", he heard a whistle coming. It was the Nuke approaching. When Sands finally gave in and could no longer resist his new being, he was still smiling. And then, the nuke touched the ground.

@@daddydope258, thank you for your compliments. People tend to compliment me because if my creativity. But I still have some issues to solve with grammar and continuity. I still don’t believe I’m ready for higher flights. But who knows? Thanks, too, for the suggestion. I’m passing trough a creative phase. from the opening moments you needed to adjust deployments and fire. Why not do it? That would be a big part of the fun. The troops would slowly back up while maintaining fire and not just stand there.
