How will the arms stay in the base? Mine fall out

Maybe you have gotten your answer by now but there is a nut and lock washer at the end where the wires come out. You are supposed to take those off when inserting the arms. Then you put on lock washer and nut. Make sure to tighten them securely so the arms don’t fall out.
