@@emperorfaiz the PSP was better for racing games anyway I mean, Midnight Club 3, Burnout Legends, Ridge Racer, Gran Turismo, hell, even Toca/DTM Race Driver, all great games for the PSP that are either ports, or (almost) 1:1 copies of PS2 games Hell, some PSP ports of PS2 games are even better, for example, Motorstorm Artic Edge (the PSP ports has downloadables DLCs, and it has portability)

I suggest everyone watching this on anything larger than a phone, to scale down the size of your browser to that of the DS (during at least a bit of the gameplay portion). This way you can have a better look at what the graphics really are, as opposed to them being stretched to the size of a tv.

I could concede that point, but as far as "DS" games like comparing them to the mario games and what not it doesn't look as good as those do. 8:44 remember this was meant to be on a much smaller screen than the wii u with a worse back light (I beleive the og ds had worse backlight than the later models) on a portable system which will have to deal with the sun

Kacey still played the game on an actual DS alongside the Wii U for footage. The DS Lite was already out for a year when the game came out. Also the OG DS's screen isn't that dark. Lite is brighter obviously, but the OG is still perfectly viewable.

You seem to forget that the "Crew Expendable" mission in the DS game takes place after two levels of pure chaos. The game might share the same name as the console/PC legend, but its not meant to be taken as a 100% demake. It is its own thing.

This version may not be beloved but it created some insanely fun memories of playing multiplayer death match on our bus everyday. The best part was that not all of us had to have a copy. I kinda doubt another game could have given the same effect for us. The only thing that even came close to this was a few years later when we all played Zombies on our iPod Touches.

Download Play was a godsend in my life. With the few friends I had, even fewer had a DS, and fewer still shared a game with me. When we knew a game had Download Play, it was on every time.

I remember playing this game when it came out. Even then I knew it was an imperfect game but it was still crazy seeing an FPS on a handheld back then. Its hard to remember now with super powerful smartphones but having games on the go was still an evolving concept in different genres. If you took a switch to 8 year old me he (I ?) would explode.

This was THE schoolyard game when we all had a DS in grade 3(?). I forgot how much time I spent in this game just battling it out with 2-3 other kids in local multiplayer. Probably the reason my bottom screen was scratched up!

Jesus christ the nostalgia attached to these game is crazy though. Every day on the school bus a bunch of friends and I would all go sweaty af on local multiplayer on our DSs. We would play on the way to school, during recess, on the ride home (rural areas so the bus rides were quite long). Hell I haven't even seen any of those kids I used to play with in so many years, I wonder how they're doing... Thanks for bringing up some memories.

I never thought I’d see anyone do videos over these games. My parents didn’t allow me to play M-Rated games at the time and this was my way of playing the “new” CoDs. I liked the CoD 4 and WaW DS games so much I got the next two (Mobilized and BO) even when I had them on console. I look forward to seeing what you think of the WaW game, because I remember it being my favorite for some reason.

I still love the way 3D graphics looked on the DS. It had the unfiltered textures like the ps1, but didn't have any distortion. I can say I love the ps1's graphics and the DS's 3d graphics the same amount. They are both super nostalgic to me, and I have a soft spot for low res, pixelated, unfiltered textures and low poly geometry.

I didnt played these games, but some games that had online modes on Wii and DS didnt used the Nintendo WFC servers because Nintendo services were very limited in functions, so they used their own servers and matchmaking netcode instead. I know that the CoD games on Wii and Monster Hunter Tri did this.

Hey Kacey, love the vid. About the Modern Warfare DS and its lack of "subtlety", Infinity Ward was changing the story based on the assets right up until release. So I would forgive N Space for not following the pacing mastery Modern Warfare on main consoles had. Beause even in close communication with Infinity Ward, they were probably at a stricter deadline and had way less resources to change pacing at the last minute to follow its mother product.

I mean, I'll be honest, I played these games way back in the day. I got into Cod around MW2, then my dad got me an R4 for the NDS, found these Cod games. And even though it was pretty bad, I remember having a lot of fun with these. I will give props for the graphics. For an FPS on the NDS, they did really well. Like you can tell they actually cared for it.

Gosh, I really love seeing visuals like this from non-PS1 systems. The N64 had a smudgy, blurry style all its own, and consoles after them obviously dwarfed them completely in terms if visuals. But so too did the PSP, meaning outside of the Saturn, the only system that really could offer chunky, pixelized low-poly graphics like this at the time was the DS. The GBA got somewhat close with some games, but it wasn't common, and they were WAY MORE chunky, therefore not really capturing the same visual identity either.
