Do you have to trim the the piping for the five 9 kit? My is still in the box waiting for my garage not to be 130 degrees
@decentgarage4 ай бұрын
No, I didn't have to trim anything with that kit.

well now i know my 90 is rare with a black dash bezel and ac. Love the build hate that it isnt mine but i hope to see it driving across the country soon
@decentgarage4 ай бұрын
Yeah, it's hard to explain, but the wood grain was for the LE models which also mostly had AC. Usually for the lower models which came with the black bezel, they were work truck and AC was not optioned as much.

This channel is the BEST! Be careful increasing tire size on these trucks. The larger size increases the leverage on the brakes making stopping more difficult. Also, this changes the overall gearing causing reduced power and fuel milage. The steering gear box and frame also can fail sooner. Best performance and reliability will be from the correct factory size on the door.
@silverstonehtpc68894 ай бұрын
There are measures a guy can take to beef up everything else, such as crossover steering (which I think Tim did here), a steering box brace, hydroboost brake conversion, and brass kingpin bushings or a spring eliminator kit. With the stock setup, the best reliability will obviously come from the stock tire size. But that's not necessarily the best performance, as that is subjective and will change depending on the owner's intended use and desire.

Where did you get those wheels and what is the offset? That's exactly the look I'm going for with my build - and those wheels look really nice!
@wesscarey44754 ай бұрын
Offset rims are very harmful due to the increased leverage.

Also make sure the u joints are quality "Spicer" and that they are correctly angled and in phase with each other to prevent vibration and premature wear.
@wesscarey44754 ай бұрын
Again, be very careful and due research on how changing the stock tire and rim size can affect a vehicle. A wider rim and tire will change the leverage on the steering gear box, frame and steering linkage. All can fail sooner due to the added stress. Taller tire diameter will change leverage and overall gearing causing reduced braking performance, reduced towing capacity and reduced fuel milage from incorrect engine RPM. Factory engineers design vehicles taking into consideration many factors. There are very good reason's they pick a certain size rim and tire. Same engineering also goes into the height of the vehicle. Adding lifts to the suspension should also be done with caution and an understanding of what unwanted consequences may arise. Aftermarket companies are in business to make $$$$. Often customers are not aware of potential problems that can and will occur. LOVE this channel and you do really good work on these trucks!
@jamesryplewski28604 ай бұрын
I’m pretty sure he understands that and doesn’t care😂. Changing tire size and suspension lift isn’t really that big of a deal, especially when it’s only a couple of inches like this one is.
@wesscarey44754 ай бұрын

Also make SURE you put sealer on the inside of the rubber seal. If no sealer is used it will leak and water will get under the rubber and rust the body away.
@decentgarage4 ай бұрын
What type of sealer do you use? I've never added sealer and haven't had issues for leaking. But I'm not opposed to doing it.
@wesscarey44754 ай бұрын
@@decentgarage There are different types available. Check with an automotive paint and body supply shop for what they recommend. Silicon sealer will work. All windshields are sealed from the factory. It is very important.
