But what about the child? The child suffers because for all those years, he or she was raised by “daddy” rather than their own father, associating him with all the qualities that any child should associate their dads with. Then, when it’s revealed they aren’t related, suddenly the poor kid doesn’t get to see his daddy anymore and has to stay with “new daddy” who they haven’t been raised by and may not feel comfortable around. No, only cheating women are upset about laws regarding paternity fraud. As a child support caseworker, I fully supported DNA testing. I feel that all child support cases should involve paternity testing, except where adoption and married with the knowledge it's another man's child is present.

I was told a story about a man who married a woman with a child. He was in love with her and I guess chose to legally adopt said child. I guess you have to adopt the child for you to legally be considered the father? Idk. Anyway that woman ended up leaving him and putting him on child support. Child support for a kid that isn’t yours that you only adopted because you loved his mother and wanted to create a family with them… that shouldn’t be legal imo.

It's a slight win, but only for men in Tennessee as far as I know. I looked it up and the only penalty is a class B misdemeanor (fraud). If you find other information, I would like to hear about it. Mandatory DNA testing should be nationwide.

Moral reasons aside, it's in the interest of the child to know that they carry hereditary conditions/risks of the actual father. *Anyone* who objects to these laws is suspect. 🤨

THIS 💯! And it doesn’t even stop there, if the child is a healthy carrier of some pathologies (like Thalassemias) it will be a huge factor for when they want to have a child of their own.

Exactly, it’s why I’ve been saying that IVF will most likely be the future of reproduction for this very reason because there is no confusion about who is involved. the main issue at the moment is cost. It’s about $30,000 from start to finish and is not covered by insurance.

And that is how you have to frame it when making the call for mandatory testing.

I see no issue with mandatory DNA tests. There are men that have parented children from birth into adulthood only to find out that they weren't even theirs. I can't imagine the feeling of betrayal after so many years.

Cost?
@USATukker2 ай бұрын
@@cohina8476 Apparently the U.S. Department of Agriculture would publish the cost to raise a child from birth to adulthood. Last time though was back in 2017, and that number was $230,000,- not including costs for college. Adjusted for inflation that's about 300 grand in today's money.

I know a guy who found out his father was not his biological father at the age of 24, the father was 60. They found out because the son was going to transplant some bone marrow to his father and as per standard process they screen everyone first. Turns out it wasnt a match, stress of finding that out just sent the poor guy in a downward spiral and he ended up dying of cancer in the end, he was a lovely old guy, even when he had cancer he would still come in the pub and have chats with everyone, after he found that out he pretty much became a shut in, bumped into him a few weeks before he died at age of 61 and he just looked like a wreck. The son was obviously devastated and stayed with the man who raised him, but that guy isnt the same anymore either. The worse part is when the mother was confronted she tried to blame everyone else and how everyone else is awful for "attacking her".
