I liked this before I saw the video simply because of the title. Van life for some has become a competition on how tricked out they can make a van build, which is fine, I suppose. For me, van life is about minimalism and simplicity. Your van is great.

So right, bring what you need! I have a rooftop where I keep stuff that i might need for longer camping time like a tent that I can add to the back of my car, camping foldable table and chair. It took me days to make sure i take what i need.....pfff that one was a tough one! But I did it! Love your channel!❤

Love your build: just Got my 2013 Dodge grand caravan and I’m in the process of setting it up. My hardest thing has been the bed so thank you for sharing this video. I’m also on Facebook blocked on some other groups for van life and getting a lot of ideas. So thank you for sharing. Looking forward to following you some more maybe we’ll meet up out there

I love your ideas! Keeps it simple is something I struggle with when I camp (small car with tent). I keep bringing more and more stuff and have less and less fun. The last straw fit me was 2 weeks ago in Door County- I came home after that trip and made a list of what NOT to bring next time! Your channel is teaching me about not just simplification of my camping stuff, but also how to look at my home differently! I really appreciate what you're doing! Best wishes, Mary
@ModernDayPilgrim3 ай бұрын
Hi Mary! Thanks for your comment and for watching! Yeah, it’s amazing just how little we actually need to survive and to get by comfortably. We inundate ourselves with stuff. It’s all cool for the minute, but the coolness wears off and then we’re stuck with a bunch of stuff. Less is more! The less stuff you have the more room you have to enjoy life without worrying about where you’re gonna put your stuff, in your home or in your vehicle! Have a fantastic weekend! And thanks so much for taking the time to comment.🩵💯😃🙌🏼

Such an amazing use of Space, even w/space for a portable chemical "restroom" if needed. The chair is also so smart. Biggest vehicle I ever drove was a Grand Caravan I used to haul my Mom and her pets when she moved from Napa to Phoenix in 2001. I drove the whole trip non-stop from Napa in twelve hours except for grabbing meals. I use a foam mattress at home, six inches, I bought at Walmart since I hate box spring mattresses. Smart setup for those who do not wish to build a camping vehicle out of an old van or a contemporary one.

Just wanted to let you know - since there's now a Short up from you about this specifically - that cot has been discontinued. I tried to buy one last week for my Element. Now, there's only a "special shorter" length cot available from this boutiquey camping company - for $150 🙄 Anyway, thanks for your great videos on minimal camping ideas!

Oh my word! Thank you so much for this kind comment. I’m so thankful that you find value in my channel and it is helpful to you. At the end of the day, that’s the goal! I’m glad to hear you got a vehicle! It’s funny, some people get really annoyed with me because I don’t waste time elaborating and talking through everything in my van in an extensive fashion! And for me, I’m all about making sure I don’t waste peoples time, giving them information without needlessly flapping my gums!🤣🤣🤣 I appreciate that you appreciate my videos!😂💯❤️🙌🏼 Stay tuned, I’ve got another video coming out tomorrow at 3 PM. I believe about keeping your vehicle clutter free and organized. Finding space for storage in your vehicle. Anyhow, reach out anytime if you have any questions. Happy to help! Have a fantastic weekend! And thanks again for this comment and for your support!😃🙌🏼💯

@@ModernDayPilgrim We’re from Belgium and I just found your channel and love it, it has has everything to do with my plans for 2025. I explain: my wife is retiring in October, we have a campervan (like a ram pro master), it’s a Adria Twin plus 600, take a look on the internet, very niIce camper) :-) and we’ll be going to France, Spain and Portugal for the winter, sometime in may 2025, we’re planning a road trip across the US in a Dodge Grand Caravan !!! we’ll be buying it in Florida, I can use an address in Florida for registration and assurance. Not an issue. It will be a 6 month road trip on the east coast, then the idea is to leave the van in a storage or maybe in a barn somewhere for another 6 months, then we’ll come back to resume our travels. this is of course a “preliminary “ idea but normally we can do it. Even if Biden is “reelected” by then…OMG ! No ! ) I’m catching up with all your videos in order to build up some experience and get some ideas with this particular model. Thanks for posting, we stay in touch. Cheers, Roger & Marianne.

Great! I'm sitting in my 2019 checking out the space as I watch your videos because right now I need a setup for off/on van camping, but next year go back to full-time time. I'm a couple inches taller, hoping I could go horizontal but table isn't sturdy for long term. A shorter cot vertical will be fine, too. I can't believe the space inside!

I bought a 2012 dodge van last week. Have been working out the bed arrangement. I decided to use the table as my bed base with a 6 inch foam mattress. I don't need an extra chair, for inside as one of the 2nd row chairs doesn't work right and won't fold down in the stow pit. So, I am working with what I have got. I still have plenty of room for my 50 lb dog to sleep.
@ModernDayPilgrim6 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! Congrats on the new 2U Van! Make sure you reinforce that table in the center and at each leg. 2 x 2 or. PVC pipe, but it is imperative that you reinforce the structure. My husband also has a 2012 Dodge grand Caravan very basic model, and one of the bucket seats wouldn’t go down in his van either. When we did some further investigation, we found out that there was a bump in the wall of where the cheer folds down. They must’ve ran over some Ware hit some thing and the space where the chair stole away had a big dent, and that was protruding into the space where the chair should go. So we took a small 3 pound sledgehammer and pounded it back out so the chair fit in there properly. I’m glad you have room for your dog too! Have a fantastic day and happy trails!😃💯🙌🏼

Have you ever had any inquiries about van meetups to share ideas since you and I live in the same area . If there was any interest on a Meetup at maybe like Stony Creek Metropark at 26 Mile in Shelby Rd . Would you like to put a meet up together. I have Transit high roof self build . Was just wondering if you had anybody inquire about ideas and how to put one together. I also have a son that did a self-build pick up because he doesn't like hotel rooms and he's on the road salesperson

Thanks for watching! No, I haven’t had any inquiries about meet ups here in Michigan, however, I have been asked to go to meet up in other states, mostly out west. It’s not my thing. Maybe I could do a LIVESTREAM one day on KZbin. Talk about Van builds or do a zoom?

Thanks for watching! Yes, sometimes I do! Up in the right hand corner of the video you’ll see a little icon that looks like a gear, if you tap that, you can slow down the video. Hope this helps! Have a fantastic day! Is it really that I am talking too fast or is it that I go through my Van methodically and don’t elaborate on each thing? Genuinely curious as I rewatch these videos when I’m told that I am speaking fast, but don’t seem to be speaking fast, however, I am just systematically in methodically going through the van set up without elaborating on each thing. What are your thoughts? Thanks! Have a fantastic day!😃🙌🏼💯
