Hello from the future. 2020 was awful but .NET 5.0 is pretty great.

I love xaml and c# it's super productive and nice to use with best tools on the market, BUT Microsoft needs to show that the technology is worth using by making at least one big new product using it. Office is moving to the browser more and more, VS code a desktop app is built with electron so why should anyone build a new app using xaml if even Microsoft is afraid to use it.

Never listen to microsoft. They wanted to abandon winforms.

I really wish they would just fix the few problems with Winforms and discontinue WPF and Xaml. It's weird that frameworks with such a huge learning curve and awful syntax are pushed by MS. And, after all that, you get a flakier, harder to maintain application with fewer features.

There is no reason whatsoever to continue to use VB.NET. It has been 20 years since C# replaced it as the primary language for LOB apps. Anything still on VB.NET really just needs to stay in the past.

@@Joooooooooooosh There is no difference whatsoever in the performance between a C# application and one written in VB.NET. You are voicing a personal preference, which is fine but there is no technical support for it. I still use VB.NET over C#, though I am just as fluent in the latter, as I find VB.NET to be far more readsble than C# in general...
