omg, it's such a beautiful fabric to use 😭 also smart idea to use different color for the waistband

This is wonderful. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who stays up all night to work on a project. I don't think I would get any crafting done if it wasn't for insomnia. Thanks for sharing. Beautiful skirt.

I was gonna do the same thing(only completely different since I'm using a different pattern and different fabric) so it's not copying, it's a trend! Cool kids are into shortened victorian skirts these days!

"do you ever get these sudden urges to be creative in the middle of the night and then you just don't want to stop?" She says as I'm collecting ideas of things I want to sew and making a lot of designs because 1 AM is the perfect time for that.

I definitely pulled a few (self imposed) all nighters when I was working on my 18th century stays last month😅. Great video! I have also been wanting to complete a project like this lately and I have about 2.5 yrds of really nice wool leftover from something and want to use it, but don’t know if it will be enough. I think the truly Victorian pattern calls for 4 7/8 yrds of 60” but I don’t have a frame of reference of how much will be shaved off the bottom. I’m 5’2” so I don’t think I’ll need a lot, but do remember how much fabric you ended up using? That would be really helpful!

Thank you for asking! I actually totally forgot to calculate how much yardage I used in this video! 😬 After a bit of review, I calculated that I used around 3 yards of 44 inch wide fabric. This includes each panel of skirt at a length of 22 inches plus seam allowance, and the pocket pieces. I didn't include the fabric for the waistband though. Hope this helps!

That helps a lot! Thank you so much!

How wide did your panels end up being ? I'm hoping to recycle an old suit. It's definitely long enough for what I'm envisioning but the seams make my fabric pieces rather narrow. I purchased the Black Snail Patterns walking skirt without thinking about the fact that "fan skirt" would probably include a rather widely paneled circle-y situation for the back and I don't think dividing one panel into three would be a good idea. 🙊

2 weeks in... How naive we were. Right now I'm not going to do accuse you of copying Bernadette because most all of us have watched her for inspiration at one point or another. Bernadette, Sewstein, and Morgan are kind of like the mistresses of historical sewing. Throwing in a little prior attire for ideas that don't actually show you how to do them.
