A universal social decision, made more intimate with flashbacks and inner thoughts. Thank you.

Finally, these wonderful 1930's fantastic films of Master Naruse with subtitles in English... barely possible my friend to express the unbounded joy you've given to us all. I used to write a "Masters of Japan Film Corner" on the net... Mikio Naruse was one of my favorites. Immediately have subscribed.
You will always hurt someone anyway. If you are not true to yourself you will never develop integrity. If you don’t have integrity you will eventually lose track of who you are and won’t be able to make any decisions or know who you are. It is not necessary to have no regard for others around you just because you know your self. In fact you will have the ability to care more and have more insight on what others need.

黒澤明は、助監督として成瀬監督についたのは本作のみだった Akira Kurosawa was only attached to Naruse as an assistant director for this film. 黒澤は撮影中居眠りをしていたことを後年成瀬に謝った Akira Kurosawa apologized to Naruse in later years for falling asleep during filming.

Extraordinary film, true to the rightness of social honor and decency yet fully allowing self-interest (no matter the cost to 'the other') its rightness - and so an honest perspective and a resolution is found. The society as a whole is strong.

大佛次郎原作の「雪崩」。むずかしい映画だと思う。主人公のモデルは1923年に心中死した有島武郎ということのようだけれども、映画の主人公は死をとどまる。 The original is from the same titled novel by Jiro Osaragi(1897-1973),and model of the hero in this film is thought that novelist Takeo Arishima(1878-1923) who double suicided in 1923 at villa in Karuizawa.But in novel author has stopped him dying as we see in the film.

well, he choose the right social morality than his own happiness, as the happiness of Fukiko, because she will die without being truly loved. that's sad, i can't imagine myself living like this. i feel sorry for her and all the women around the world that are puttin in this position

The movie doesn't provide enough info to tell if Goro is a selfish promise-breaking rat or a victim of an arranged marriage. Yayoi seemed to want independence more than matrimony generally, so she's the one really pressured by both Goro and society.

I don't see Fukiko for life without parole as a bad thing. Lots of ways to spend the time. She'd blush for good reason with all the buns in the oven.

Western dance seemed to be quite popular in Japan back then, going by Naruse's films.

I'm looking for a B and W Film about ..,'bus passengers travelling at night on a lonely rural area or countryside'. I'm not sure if its a horror or crime-drama-suspense and i forgot the movie title. Kindly help. Thank you.
I love Naruse. Can you upload others of his films, perchance? For example Le Repas (The Meal in English)? All of his are interesting, imo. Thanks in advance.

To see decent, sane, stable people in a movie, i have to go back to 1937. The world and morality of today comes from a degenerate tyrannic media monopoly and bankers as we know well who they are. Their tradition and vices are not those of the majority demographics.
@hektor6766 Жыл бұрын
I'd bet you supported a philanderer and sexual predator for president. The degenerate is you. The media are just following your fetid money.

`Ah, those 1930's movie codes. You could go to a nightclub and dance belly-to-belly with any stranger. Try to pull your wife into a loving embrace, however, and that's somehow not permitted. I've seen this time and again.

EvolutionRevolution As I have, particularly in US films & television shows. Japan was on its way to becoming v. Americanised at the time, as is irrefutably evident in is film. I wouldn't blame the Japanese in particular. Perhaps it is just human or patriarchal.

Yeah, I’d like to know that also. It seems to be a Japanese cultural habit. I guess it’s a male superiority complex. I wish for everyone that it would change.
