I just thought that I was struggling with the rules because of my 'senior' age...(67)...lol. I just cracked open the game and am completely dumb-founded by the "game walkthrough," which I didn't find to be much of a walkthrough at all but rather an explanation of all the things a player can do during a turn. So my next thought was to search for a how-to-play video on KZbin. I should have done my research first, because if I had known this game was going to require an hour and a half video tutorial, I never would have bought it. This just isn't for me, but I left a like because I appreciate your extensive effort in teaching the game.

Strongly suggest to anyone wanting to learn how Mage Knight is played (they are "How To" and not "Playthroughs" though) to watch these three "How To Play" videos. Very impressed by your videoing (great light source, very calm and collective - reading teleprompter, couldn't tell - love the sweeping zoom-in of the camera), yet editing could be a bit better (chop scenes, frozen screen at the end of #2, bubble talk?, ...) Looking forward to your other videos - maybe some hints/ideas for my channel. Cheers

I finally decided to buy Mage Knight and getting the Ultimate Ed box. It's my birthday, so im getting a "big fancy" game. Lol i just lucked out and found some guy was selling his on BGG for such a great deal. Ive almost bought the original set over the last few years several times and then i keep dithering about what exactly to spend a big chunk of money on, but i finally decided to invest in Mage Knight and getting all the expansions all at once, as i have compared and studied so many games that are basically variations on same theme, but i think this looks like the most interesting. Buying all the different expansions and base was going to cost a fortune, so it was so great to find Ultimate for sale at reasonable price.

resting is different from healing. Rest = disard a non-wound card and then discard any number of wound in your discard pile, so those wound stay in your deck for the next round, but a heal will remove the wound and return to the wound pile

OK - this is obviously not one game but you seriously have explained Mage Knight so clearly I would like to have this on the others. EDIT - I just emailed a few companies to have them have you do videos for them. If Fantasy Flight games hired you, then Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle-Earth might actually make sense and be fun. Good luck. As someone who loves solo board games, I never understood why this game is #1 in solo board gaming (Board game geek). Mind you people on board game geek are hardcore and maybe I'm not. I've tried to tackle this game multiple times. Every time I do, I need to look up the set up rules. Then when actually playing I have to do the same constantly. Then I sit there and realize this game is not fun. Points should be awarded for performing actions and or setting it up without looking in the manual. If you play it often then I assume you look less and less at the manual. But if you pull it off the shelf a few times a year it becomes a chore. This game might be intricate and oozing with decision making but I've played solo games that are a lot more satisfying and fun with less mess. Great video BTW.

Thank you so much for this amazing tutorial for Mage Knight :) I have a question tho, I can't find an answer online: in my Mage Knight box (regular one, not ultimate edition), I got only 7 countryside tiles in total, not 11 as I read one should get. Any thoughts on why?
@ModernTablegamer4 жыл бұрын
Hi Marina, Thanks so much! I agree it seems you are 4 tiles short. I think you can still play some solo or two player scenarios with that many tiles still. When I got my copy of Mage Knight (non-Ultimate Edition), I had a shortage of Draconum enemy tokens. I ended up going to the Wiz Kids website and I found they have a customer service page where you can request replacements for your missing pieces. They ask for a receipt to prove you were the original purchaser of the game, but I ended up getting my copy never played from a friend of mine. I didn't have a receipt, but sent a very sad gamer email to them. After I submitted the claim, I got my missing tokens in a bout 4 weeks or so. I don't know if you want to try that or not.
@marinaninic3354 жыл бұрын

great videos. Are they out of order? I watched this one and then an older one about combat. This one mentions movement and influence was next. I'll watch them all, but seems like the releases are a bit out of order with what makes sense? I think i should have waited on the combat one because it seemed like things, such as turning cards sideways was already known. I've played the game a few times already so I have an idea anyhow. This is a great refresher and combat can be tough to learn regardless.

Hi Scott, I'm glad the videos helped! You're right. The release of the videos are a bit out of sync, but I'm working right now to fill in the gaps. I started with the Combat video as it was the part of the game that I was struggling with the most and I figured it may be one of the topics for this game that might have the greatest need. After that one was finished, I decided to start from the beginning and then fill out the rest so it will be a really comprehensive series. The next one will be coming soon!

@@ModernTablegamer you are right and I've watched your video twice. the combat is tough once you have fortified, fire and ice. I still struggle with it.

If I will see all the videos for this how to play, will I be able to play Mage Knight Ultimate with all its expansions, or just the base game? Are there extra rules for its expansions?

I’m a noob with these, is there a box or container for this? I mean, setup looks rough and setting up again seems like a pain (i may be wrong). Maybe a box where cards can be put by group?

There are some insert solutions for Mage Knight you may want to look into. Game Nerdz makes a pretty affordable one (as compared to the price of others) www.gamenerdz.com/box-insert-mage-knight-expansions?gclid=Cj0KCQiAtqL-BRC0ARIsAF4K3WFs4jd3jLTC_NiDWJkqFOnfd6Nfr_Q9DU9vlmkwsOqu_pUl8jzZFyEaAtXlEALw_wcB
