@@commandershepard9601 - Agreed. His explanation of security clearances is wonky right from the start. An E-1 knows that: Confidential, the unauthorized disclosure of which would “cause damage to the national security” Secret, the unauthorized disclosure of which would “cause serious damage to the national security" Top Secret, the unauthorized disclosure of which would “cause exceptionally grave damage to the national security.” Those are the three categories of collateral information. Sure it gets more complicated from there but that is the baseline.

Q clearance is the equivalent of Top Secret, but limited to only the Nuclear field. Just because you have a Top Secret clearance doesn't mean you are entitled to see any Top Secret material.....there's something called Need to Know. And if you don't need to see certain classified material, you will not be allowed to see it, regardless of your classification clearance.
@ELPRES1DENTE458 ай бұрын

The president theoretically has access to all classified information, but he would have to 1) know it exists, and 2) have enough information to ask the right questions. In this way the information is compartmentalized as a practical matter even from him.

There is nothing above Top Secret. You can have SCI which is a caveat on top of TS but it’s not a clearance itself, just a category of information. A Q clearance is the same as a Top Secret for the DoE. If you have a TS with another agency through reciprocity you can probably get it transferred to a Q if you go to work for the DoE

Accessability and need to know is what separates the clearances, For most Top Secret information the person learning/accessing this information must be in the need to know and have the proper clearance. just about anybody who has a TS/SCI clearance usually has squeaky clean record of course things being permitted in the past because humans make mistakes obviously

Q clear is DOE. The problem with asking one person about this is that they may know one or two specific aspects above a TS but thereafter, they are living in the same myth as the rest of us.
@Thomas_Deering_King Жыл бұрын
No no no. A Q clearance is the Department of Energy clearance for nuclear secrets. Above a Q is a sigma added to your Q, which grants access to the most precious weapons secrets, which you can't access with "only" a Q clearance.
