Didn't really think about it before but, this has macro applications - it's currently a real pain to distinguish inputs from different keyboard devices in software (particularly Windows). With this, you could plug it into one keyboard, setup some payloads to do macros or run scripts. A massive underutilisation of this thing's capability but still.

Funny you should say so - I've been using it for customer support emails. Even better since it has network access and bash I can have it pull information from websites to include in the typed response.

Are the payloads just ducky scripts? I looked in the documentation but I couldn’t find any clue on how the payloads are build.

The payloads are interpreted by bash and make use of commands specific to Hak5 gear - from QUACK for keystroke injection to ATTACKMODE for emulating USB devices and many more. There are example payloads in the git repository that you can learn from as well.

Yes - if the MATCH command is omitted from the payload it will execute on connection with the target regardless of whether or not a keyboard is attached.

Important question(s): is there a way to perform a factory reset if I mess up the debian system enough? Is there a way for me to create an image of the system as a backup? I bought the kit as soon as I saw the reveal and I'm still backlogged until after May 26... Good news is, by the time I receive it, I will very damn well have RTwholeFM!

The 8 GB SSID contains a system recovery partition which will be used to restore the primary partition should the device become "bricked". The process is similar to the Bash Bunny and requires holding the button while plugging and unplugging it 3 times. The process is detailed in the full documentation at docs.hak5.org. Keep in mind however that this is not foolproof. If you happen to overwrite the bootloader or recovery partition, you're SOL. Remember, with root comes responsibility.

Plug it into your computer, then don't type anything on its connected keyboard which would trigger a payload and press the hidden arming mode button. Also keep in mind you can have multiple keyboards attached to your computer. :)

Good eye, but it's not a typo. Notice the alias is for a capital 'G'. There are two shift keys on your keyboard, one on the left, another on the right. See, there isn't a capital 'G' key on the keyboard - only a single 'g' - so to produce a capital 'G' one may hold the left shift key (02,00,00) or the right shift key (20,00,00) in addition to the 'g' key (00,00,0a) - thus producing either combination. We'll be getting into all of these oddities throughout the series. Suffice it to say, keyboards are weird and the reason they are the way they are today dates back to the 1980s

Shift-3 for £ is correct for UK :-) Shift-4 is also $ for UK.

I feel dumb, I thought you were saying that there was a keylogger called “Shift-3” sold in then UK and another called “Shift-4” sold in the US... I spent a couple minutes searching for it before I realized you meant the key combinations to get the currency symbols... :S

Got it; make my devices safer by learning Japanese and placing the keyboard in Japanese mode. Then, don't let anyone who even remotely speaks Japanese in to your server room/home. Actually, I could probably just do step 2, for everyone.
