Hey guys! Quick review for you today in this custom modified 1974 VW Super Beetle. In the back it's got upgraded cams and a few other tweaks done as far as engine goes, as well as a slightly modified suspension setup and interior. Hardcore sports car? No. Classic cruiser/drag car? My first car was a 1971 bug with a 1914cc motor. Don’t know HP but it ran a 14.4 in the 1/4 and was SOOOOO fun.

Vintage Car Yesterday the mechanic that I bought it from estimated the HP around 100-110. I went through 4 transmissions in that car cuz stock tranny couldn’t hang. Haha! I can’t imagine how fun those bugs are that people WRX swap

These can be turned in to hilariously sideways wagon... Also, the Mighty Car Mods put a Subaru Impreza WRX 4 cylinder in one of these and destroyed so much on the dragstrip because these cars weigh nothing.

Stock 74 supers had column high beams on the turn signal switch . Earlier bugs like my 57 ragtop had foot switch

No, it destroys the handling. They're too long and hanging those extra two cylinders out of the back means that the back end wants to rotate round. A big cc type 1 beetle motor will out perform a Porsche, but a Subaru will squeeze in there if you try!

Crypto Pirate Yes!!! Nice reasonable power and VERY good dependability!! They’re not stroked and perfect 90.5 mm pistons that will be dependable as stock! Just choose the right cam and carb set up.

I've had over a dozen Beetles, including a 12 second drag car. My current one runs 14s, aiming to get into the 13s this year. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXiooIuwn86HqJI If this Super was mine, I'd start by raising the back suspension slightly for better launches. Change as much of the glass for plastic, and start cutting weight out wherever you can - Supers are heavy compared to a standard. Supercharger conversions on Beetles are temperamental - That's why most people go for a turbo, either in draw through or blow through configurations. A 1641 with a single carb blow through will be 120bhp, enough for 14s but will probably lunch the transmission. Fun while it lasts though, and that's what it's all about!

Factory tire spec pressures. It was on the front bump stops with cut springs in the video. I've since put on new springs and empi adjustable struts
