This video was done at the request of viewers showing my modified DIY Dr. Prepare Battery Portable power Lithium Iron Phosphate battery. I believe I took a great battery and made it even better adding a shunt / battery monitor, LED lights and a 50amp Anderson plug.

I have the same Dr. Prepare battery. It is in the cap of my pickup truck. It is powering my Setpower PT55 refrigerator/freezer. I have three 110 watt flexible solar panels on the roof of my cap on my truck and one 100 watt CIGS solar panel on the roof of the truck itself. Last year I ran it for 185 straight days powered by my Dr. Prepare battery. I am doing the same this year. I added panels this year and now I am always fully charged. I love the mods you did on your battery. I wish I had an Anderson plug built in.

Appreciate your channel.This battery was custom made for me:)Thing is I don't Understand about wats volts amps And really don't care to learn. Wow this company made a battery Special for me As long as I keep it 12 V and watch the 4 bar I'm good for the weekend.

Nice content. I probably will just stick with running an inverter straight from the battery posts but I understand why you did that and it's helpful to see your ideas. I especially like the add-on meter, but can't see myself getting ambitious enough to put in all of effort, then still have all of the loose wires in cramped quarters to deal with when reassembling. Throwing it all into a bigger box is more what I'm willing to deal with. That said, different strokes, and I'm sure more than a few viewers want your more compact design.

Yeah - that was a mess trying to do for sure! I think a display should be standard - the batteries already have a BMS, just need a screen to show current SOC. An Anderson plug is nice too, makes it a clean set up - but just more expense.

Thanks for making this video. I just finished wiring most of mine and what an incredible PIA, but I got everything stuffed in there. I am waiting on 1/2" ring terminals to finish it off. I have a Drok battery monitor on top, same model as you. Where you have a switch for the light I have an Anderson 45 amp socket, one of the small ones. It is glued in. The only way I could get it to fit. Where you have the 50 amp Anderson I managed to stuff in a 120 amp Anderson socket. On the right side of the back I have a battery disconnect switch. I have a 200 amp main fuse and a 150 amp fuse on the 120 amp Anderson and a 50 amp fuse for the 45 amp Anderson. I don't think I have ever measured anything so much as this #%&! battery box - LOL.

​@@Hunleygarage Well, I measured and measured, and took photos of the top inside and base and overlaid them and sort of printed an xray view. Then measured some more and wrote down all the clearances and outlined the spaces. All the heavy wire in mine is 6 awg silicone. I dont think 4 awg would fit. The 120 amp Anderson fuse is bolted inline into the cable. The main 250 amp fuse is mounted directly to the main switch. The 120 amp Anderson is just slightly larger than the 50 amp, but I could not use a face plate setup like you have done. I have one but it was too big. I cut to shape and epoxied a 1/2" thick piece of HDPE to the inside of the lid to hold the 120 amp Anderson and cut a rectangular hole for it in the side. It is exposed, but maybe I can figure out a rubber flap for it. For the 45 amp Anderson (the small ones) I had a 50 amp blade fuse and holder, but the holder was too big, so I ended up with two 90d terminal push on connectors for that. The Shunt is about where you have it. With all this stuff inside, the Drok monitor has about 1/4" (maybe) clearance on each side. I dont know why they used this large cell array. Dr. Prepare also sells a cheap 100 amp Lifepo4 battery that has 4 small prismatic cells inside. This would have left a lot of space inside this box. I just harvested these prismatic cells and BMS from that Dr. prepare battery to do a build similar to yours using the Harbor freight box. I believe this battery has a 10 year warranty? But after mod, not so much. Nice enhancements though. Not a hater; yes I do elect to mod stuff at times but not on such a battery. Product info says it (was) waterproof…

Your Alterations to this battery Makes void it's very good Warranty. Spend 3 or $400 more and just buy a jackery.

Still wouldn’t be as good though. I think it’s all quality enough I’m not worried about needing a warranty. Just my opinion though. Thanks for watching!

I've had a Dr Pepare battery for 2 years. I've had to replace it 2 times. First time was not bad the second time well I'm on email 8 with them. I'm not thinking they will be sending me a new one. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Can you send information on the cable size on the blue inverter and the anderson connector attached to those same cables? Seems like the cables would not fit into the anderson connector? Thanx

I used 6g wire - but know that’s only good for 50 amps. The Anderson connector is a 50 amp one. Someone commented they make a 110 amp Anderson. I may try that next. It would allow the full load - but will be large!
