Thank you for sharing how you have adjusted flylady to match your home, I’m trying to do that now also.

I do the Weekly Home Blessing over 5 Days. 1) Dust with feather duster. 2) Clean all mirrors, front door, backdoor & kitchen windows Surfaces: Outside of fridge, dishwasher, oven, Kitchen counters, stove top, 3) Vacuum whole house including tile floors 4) Mop 5) Change sheets. I take my time and I don't just do the "middles." It doesn't take very long. After this, I wait 3 weeks and do it again on the 4th week. I don't go by a monthly calendar. I have 6 Zones and I take 6 weeks to do it all, I spot clean something as needed but this way, I don't spend all my time cleaning. Trash goes out weekly on Friday because it's picked up on Saturday. I like the way you've modified the zones. I was paying $164 for house cleaning (every 4 weeks) so I'm saving that without feeling overwhelmed by it. My son does his own laundry, sheet cleaning, dusting & vacuuming his room, rinses his own dishes etc. So glad to hear your son's are helping. P.S. I had no idea that my dishwasher had a filter! You can imagine how that looked. Yikes!

Yes, modify those routines to make them work for you and your home! I didn’t always know about the filter in my dishwasher either. 🤗

You have inspired me to restart. I’ve gone through a similar journey, go all in, overwhelm yourself and give up over time. I’m ready to restart a modified (again) fly lady system for myself and get back on the bandwagon. Thanx for the motivation!

Thank you so much Nikki. I just purchased her sink reflections book and the control journal sheets. I appreciate your help with all of this.

I hope you enjoy the book. I found the book easier to understand than the website. Have a great rest of the week! 💕

I do my zone cleaning on a Friday unless I do it throughout the week. I also give each zone a full week. The Secret Slob calls it zone looping.

That’s a good name for it. I need to go watch some of her more recent videos.

I appreciate what you are suggesting about combining Flylady and Passionate penny pinch, like both too

This is super helpful for me. Thank you for sharing. I’m going to incorporate a few of your ideas. Kitchen Day being the biggest. I have struggled to do zone cleaning because my mind is always stuck on the fact that I feel I need to tackle my kitchen more than once a month. Then I don’t do any zone cleaning and I also don’t deep clean anything in my kitchen and I get all off track. We are home all the time too and my husband is messy. It just makes sense that the kitchen needs its own day. Same with the shower! It also is a thing that swirls in my mind and throws me off. Adding that to the WHB is a great idea! I also struggle with fatigue so breaking up the kitchen to Tuesday, meal planning on Wednesday and groceries on Thursday will help me manage all that. Great ideas!!

I’m so glad this was helpful! It took me a long time to really figure out where to place all of these things to make sense for me, but it has made such a difference. 💕 I don’t feel nearly as overwhelmed and these things are finally getting done at my house. ☺️

I’m watching old videos so not sure where you’re at now, but YES to customizing FlyLady. At the beginning of this month I started implementing zone cleaning, successfully for the first time. In the past I’ve been overwhelmed by it, I didn’t like the preset zones and I absolutely hated the zone 5 to zone 1 crossover. Zone 5 by FlyLady is living spaces…why would the places you spend the most time be one of the places you spend the least time deep cleaning?! I’ve reworked it. I’m now in 6 zones even though I just have a little one bedroom apartment, and I absolutely love it so far. My 6th zone is reserved for all the extra things that i should be doing regularly but they rarely cross my mind (things like washing makeup brushes, cleaning vacuum filters, etc). So far so good. I made a tracker for the year so I don’t mind if I’m not finishing the list (keeps me from getting panicky about the length of it!), since I can see the last time I did a certain task and make sure I’m hitting the less important tasks every 2-3 months…If that made sense lol Anyways. I’m 7 months late to this video but I hope you’ve found a routine/system that works for you :)

I'm with you on the kitchen! We homeschool too & having to do all of our meals at home makes it tough to keep it from getting disgusting before that zone comes around. I'm trying to decide how I want to do that. 🤪 This sounds awesome though!! ♥️

I knew I couldn’t be the only one that has to do things more frequently in my kitchen! 😉 It may take a little bit of trial and error, but you will figure out how to make it work for you. 💕
