Great work on the Q2! the sound quality of the second song was owsome!! I know that it was converted to digital but the convertion is worked by you very fine!!! Today I'll finish to re-asamble my SLQ restored.. Beatiful machines. I dont rhink to spend lots of money in a turntable. I only would spend lots of money in a good MC or MM cartridge and on a good phono stage. Both are the life of phono. Regards

Brilliant video,very informative and the sound quality matches the visuals. The cart sounds like a MC rather than MM. very well done.

I just picked up this exagct SL-Q2 table. It is very clean, but I had to 3D print new hinges. As a teenager in the early 80's, I had the cheaper version of this one. It was the SL-D2, which is a belt driven turntable.. Did you do anything with the crappy factory RCA cables and grounded wire or any jack mods? BTW which headshell, cartridge and stylus are you using or do recommend for hard heavy rock and classic rock, mostly? My table came without them. Yours sounds really nice, even through my Chromebook/KZbin using just a JBL Flip 4 BT speaker. That record weight looks fantastic too. Who makes it? Have you ever seen the late 1980 version? It's the SL-Q2 but all black instead of silver. Very sharp! Thanks.

Hello! I use an Audio-technica VM740ML. They were way less expensive a few years ago! In a stock headshell. I didn’t replace the wire, as they are working for now. I once attempted to replace them on my previous SL-D2, and that was somewhat difficult to do properly. The record clamp comes from either eBay or Amazon, I can’t remember. This is a no frill model, sold at sane price, not audiophile price! 😃 I didn’t knew there was another version of the Q2! Curious to see that! 😲

D stands for direct drive. Q is quartz lock, D is a servo motor, B is belt as in slB220

Great work and super cool vid! I own a SL Q 33 wich is basically a SL Q 3 with more automations ( leds sensors for disc presence and size détection. I had to compare it with my other other turntable, SL Q 202 semi auto. This one sounds much better and music feel like alive compare to the SQ33. I couldn't figure out why I had such à différence on the low mids until I suspected the architecture of the turntables themselves, wich is abviously more elaborate on the SLQ202 ( double suspended châssis, versus springs in the feets on the SLQ33 ( and also SLQ2 and3) Soo, I think the solution has serious chances to be your mod. Please, would you be so kind as to tell me how did you became aware of a structural issue of low mids for the Technics turntables? Is It something actually documented? I would like to know about this. I have much less space In the SLQ33 to place modeling clay, because of extra composent, but should help anyway. I also saw you re setting up the peak level of your listening to -2db on your vu. That's good habit! Thanks for your answer and enjoy this nice hi-fi set with your cool grooves. Ben.

My first turntable. All you will need. Only negative is the existence of the "automatic going back to the rest home mechanism". Basicaly no need for that modding.

Haha, "Straight Up" was like my favorite song when I was in the fourth grade. :) Sounds amazing here. That is quite a mod with the clay! I'd heard about people stuffing their turntables like this, but never seen it done. Is the cart in this video the 740?
@Dero724 жыл бұрын
Margatroid yes, that’s it!

How did you manage to balance the turntable?
@Dero72 Жыл бұрын
Do you mean the tracking weight of the arm? If yes, then it’s done the same as any other turntables! The only thing I had to do was to put sorbothan pads under the stock feet, because the built-in suspension was bottomed out by the additional weight!
