Awesome as usual. The only "downside" is you make me want to tear apart my running car and take advantage of your ideas.

Mine has an Afco Pro on it and it keeps things cool pretty well, other than really hot day's stuck in traffic but anything in the 70's -80's it stays in a really good range and that's with the stock intercooler brick. I go back in forth on doing the VMP unit paired with the Afco Pro.

My next video out driving and ripping on the system should give a lot more data that could help you make a decision.

@@MalcolmV8 Granted I haven’t done many hard pulls yet this year due to breaking in the clutch but now that it’s pretty much set I’ll see what happens with the temps with some more spirited driving but I don’t recall them getting that high after the VMP was put on anyway

Good deal. There are so many factors to take into account. I hope to convey this in the driving video and explain what’s happening with the numbers and data gathered.

Thanks for all the hard work and great data Malcolm. I am currently installing a Gen3R and this is exactly what I will be doing with I/C system. In relation to the high flow of the EMP creating havoc in the reservoir I read where some guys are basically just using the reservoir as a degass tank and bypassing the majority of the flow. This seems alot easier to me than trying to add baffles in my I/C tank and me having no welding skills doesn't help either. Any thoughts on this method?
@MalcolmV82 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tony, glad you're enjoying the content. I would not bypass the reservoir and just use as a degas tank. I don't have all the details yet, still working on the content but a future video will address reservoir capacity and it's effects. Preliminary data says it's important.... but still working on it.

I have another question for you Mr. Malcolm. How effective would a normal dual pass heatexchanger, like an Afco, but custom built to double the thickness/girth? I ask because over half of the GT500 style heatexchanger is blocked by the front bumper and it doesn't get much airflow going through +50% of its surface. I am wondering if this has been tested before?
@MalcolmV8 Жыл бұрын
I've never seen that done before so I'm not really sure. I will say although only the bottom portion has direct line of sight through the bumper you have to remember lots of air blows through and pushes up and all over. So while the top half is not getting a direct line of sight flow of air it's definitely getting air.

Great content and exactly what I'm contemplating. Curious if you considered the VMP heat exchanger with the 1 inch fittings? It's configurable to be single pass vs dual pass and boasts a max flow rate of 30 GPM in single-pass mode. Also if you considered Dept of Boost heat exchangers (super single or Titanic). Also...what kind of flow meter are you using. Would love to be able to grab that kind of data when I start making my own updates. Thanks for the analytical approach to validating theory vs reality.
@MalcolmV8 Жыл бұрын
Thank you, I'm glad you're liking the content. I agree too many opinions and no real data. Yes I have been looking at other options and doing other testing. There are more videos and content on the subject in the works and coming. Stay tuned for that. My flow meter was just a raw meter that provided a square wave signal output. So you need to use it in conjunction with a computer or electronics to interpret the signal. That worked for me as I wanted to capture the output and data log it. They also make self contained flow meters with a digital display which is what most people would likely use. Mine is no longer available so no link but if you search google for flow meter you'll find all kinds show up.

Any reason you didn't go with the 13/14 gt500 style heat exchanger? I like your fix for the tank, I have the same issue with that annoying leak from the lid.
@MalcolmV82 жыл бұрын
Do you mean an actual 13/14 GT500 heat exchanger? The AFCO unit is supposed to put cool a stock 13/14 GT500 unit. Agreed this tank has been very buggy but I’m making progress.

Hey Malcom where are you located? I'm asking cause I would like to see If you would be willing to work on my car? Basically everything you have done on your channel, VMP intercooler and gen 5. Name your price there will be no haggling or negotiation on my end.

That's a great gesture and maybe in the future I could do some cars like that on the channel but right now I'm simply maxed on space and time. When I moved from the midwest I gave up my shop space for some FL sun and driveway life lol. I'm working on a fix but it'll take some time.
