@The Real VR Gotta love you snowflake armchair critics that think you know everything and everyone, you guys just crack me up. First off, this plow system was first produced in Missouri, late 2005, which means it could not possibly have been used on the 400 series highways for "at least two decades now" because even in 2021 it's only been out for less than 16 years total. Secondly (because I'm sure you couldn't be bothered to notice before spurting out gibberish), the comment you are commenting on (and of course judging my whole carrier on) is over 9 years old. Which means that at the time of my comment, these things were only on the road ANYWHERE ON THE PLANET for approximately 6-7 years TOPS. At that time most of these units were VERY expensive and sold exclusively in the states until offered for sale globally. Thus there probably wasn't any up here or if there was there were very few at the time of the original comment. So yes, it's quite possible at that time to not have seen any of these on the roads up here yet. Like MTO had the budget for that new set up right away regardless. And of course, third. Now that you know everything about my life, lets now tell other people how buddy could never of been a trucker or never been here or there a day in his life and blah, blah, blah. I've had my big ticket since before you were probably even born. Oh and by the way, what the hell is a winnipecker? Enjoy your self righteousness there snowflake, be sure to spread more gobbly goo where ever and whenever you can, it seems to make the world go round these days.

If you mean truck, typically 5 tons, while running the same engine as a deuce n a half, the 5 ton general has higher torque. Definitely want that when pulling that trailer. Don't think you mean trailer, but if you do, I don't think you can run a plow like that on a single axle. The balance and dynamics of force would be to much. I'm also realizing this post is 3 years old... but I'm this far so I'm posting anyway.

Excellent looking piece of equipment. Sure saves time and cuts a wide path on two lane highways. I see you haven't encorporated the new LED lights yet. They are amazing and certainly focus driver attentions towards the snow plow operator. They are two to three times brighter than conventonal lights and are visible over a kilometer away. I've seen them mainly on highway police cars ut now our provincial government are going to use them.

I bet as a driver, you would have to stay extremely focused. I would think if you let your guard down for a second, that thing could get away from you.

All they have to do is report an illegal passing to their dispatch...most snow plows are Dot workers and all they have to do is get your plate number and phone it in. If the cops can't pull you over you end up with a traffic violation ticket in your mail box. At least that's how they do it in Iowa, laws are obviously different from State to state.

@@TheRealBmanswan Hey, I asked a little further up in the thread, but you commented a mere 14 hours ago, so I will ask you. I'm a truck driver, been over the road for several years, have seen and even followed MANY a plow truck, but I have never ever seen a dual set up like this one in the video before. Do you know if that is a general "thing", or is it relegated to just one or two different states? Also, other than the obvious benefits of being able to clear two lanes of travel simultaneously, is there any other uses for a dual set up like that? I'm seriously curious and if you know and wouldn't mind answering, I would be appreciative. ☮️

People please be patient and let us do our job so you can get to your destination safely, better off being a little late than being dead.

That is a brilliant design. Both sets of wheels on the towed plow turn at the same time to cause it to angle out while it's plowing. When you're done, simply turn the wheels straight again and it pulls like a regualr trailer only taking up one lane. That thing saves paying one less plower driver.

@TheRealBmanswan
@TheRealBmanswan 5 жыл бұрын
@@MrKabDrivr because the snow left over is already smoothed out by the first plow which will freeze fast and become a sheet of ice. If you notice that compacted snow is in the middle of the road where people have to cross to merge or switch lanes. Would you want to switch lanes on ice going 50-70 mph on a highway? Anything over 30 would get you hurt as is so this keeps the roads clean from packed snow that turns to ice it also pushes any ice that has formed off the road. I figured it was common sense to know this stuff if you have a license.

I just saw one of these one of these on the highway on my way to work. It was in front of me a ways and because it was dark I couldn’t make out what it was. I thought I was approaching an accident b/c it looked like a fire truck parked sideways with its lights blinking. Thank Christ it was traveling the same speed as me or else I would’ve shat myself. It was plowing 3 of the four lanes on the interstate, I was amazedI. I had never seen one of these before. That’s one cooler things I’ve seen. Snow plows are somewhat satisfying in a weird way. Like those trains that plow and then big things like this!

I've seen it in use with snow. Absolutely brilliant! No more does the plow truck need to drive on shoulder and risk being sucked in to ditch.

As a trucker I've been all over this country and have never seen this type of plow! Thr only place I've seen put a plow truck in each lane from left to right staggered is Ohio which takes 2-4 trucks or more depending on how many lanes. It makes plenty of sense as the first truck pushes the snow to the next lane and the next truck catches it and does the same thing till the snow reached the shoulder. It's much faster but only pisses traffic off but oh well. This plow here makes even more sense because they can use one man for 2 lanes; which means they can spread their drivers out more across the city and get more work done vs having one truck per lane. Also better then one truck per stretch of highway which takes longer and leaves part of the highway slippery or impassable until that one driver comes back around to hit it. Those states and countries that get hella snow be having some awesome machinery, stuff I've never seen. I live in DC and we don't have none of that weird stuff, just regular dump trucks with a plow and a salt sifter thing.

Sadly, as someone who lives in a area that gets 8 feet of snow per winter, I know this contraption is pure government waste. The same coverage can be accomplished, with greater safety and far less taxpayer cost, with the plow truck having a second wing plow. No trailer plow needed.

Agreed as a government plow operator these trailer plows are a waste of time and money they still require a second pass anyway.

Both truck and trailer plow have full loads of salt on them also, so their traction is pretty good. We see them on Michigan expressways after a anow. 2 people can cover alot of roadway with these. You run two of these combinations along with just a regular dump ttuck plow and you get 4 lanes and the

@boltcrank42 lol, true. Driving around on slippery roads is fun in a rear wheel drive, but when you get a foot of the white stuff and the plows have left 3 foot walls at the mouth of every side street and the minor roads aren't even plowed at all, it makes it a little tough to get around without the 4x4. Anyway, keeps the soccer moms off the road. Cheers.

BC has some, 100k ea i heard, in colo you can pass the plows, because the snow is light and fluffy, wet snow states usually make that illegal, as you may get your windows broken out. I drive a small plow, but i have seen 15 plows plow i25 thru the city after blizzards
