Hello, in winter the temperature usually stays around 5 degrees Celsius. When the outside temperature stays below -20 degrees Celsius for several days, the temperature inside the aviary is +1. Never drops below +1. Apparently the species I grow tolerate light frosts well, but I prefer not to expose them to severe cold.

@Ignacy-Przyroda-zoologia I see they feel comfortable. My cockatiel feels cold even in +15°C . It is 6 months already. I can't understand whether it is female or male . I had Indian ringneck parrots before. Unfortunately, my cage is not perfect for keeping birds. The door of the cage is self-made. I need to do something with that.

Your cockatiel looks like a healthy, impressive female, but you will only be sure of the gender after the first molt. I believe that a parrot can be cold at temperatures below +15°C. Nowadays, cockatiels are more sensitive than those bred a dozen or so years ago. Acclimatization to lower temperatures should be carried out gradually over several months, while observing the bird. Not all of them tolerate lower temperatures well.

@Ignacy-Przyroda-zoologia yes it's head color is changing to dark gray color. May be it is female. When can I take another cockatiel to pair? It is tamed and alone. Thanks, I appreciate your answer.

@@englishsimple1052 If you don't care about the color of the male, you could buy one in the nominal color - gray, with the underside of the tail being black. Males of this color are easiest to distinguish from females. Determining the sex of other color mutations is difficult, in young birds - almost impossible. If your parrot is 6 months old, you can already add a partner to it. Even if you make a mistake and buy a bird of the same sex, they should also live in harmony with each other. Cockatiels are rarely aggressive towards each other. Good luck.
