Wow, I'm 73 years old and just saw myself in the background with black curly hair in the rocker interview. What a shock! I have to say we were encouraged to say something negative about rhe mods . I see my interview was deleted i guess it wasn't rebellious enough. Later i went from being a regular of the Aztec to going to dances at the Blue Moon and dances at the YMCA. Later I decided at age I 19 didn't want to associate as either a mod or a rocker, i just wanted to be me. I bought eleven hand made suits from Bourtons taylors mainly mohair and spent my early days going to the dances at Cheltenham Town Hall. This was followed in my twenties to going to Tramps at the back of Boots the chemists. What memories, hey, ho!

The days before Avon county was invented and Glos Constabulary covered all the way down to Mangotsfield and Bristol outskirts. Guess the force had many more officers than today!

The Eight Bells on the High Street was the first time I saw a woman with a cut up face being taken away in an ambulance. It was in about 1965. Then there was the Aztec Club at the other end where there were always some bikers (I think it was a cafe because it was open during the day}. But it was pretty good as we had the Blue Moon where Hendrix played, the ABC cinema where the Beatles played. Then in the 70's there was the Pavillion where there was always some live music. So all 'n' all Cheltenham was pretty cool. There was not really that much trouble. Hmmm...I guess thet depends which end of town you came from.

I was a rocker on the weekdays while travelling to work on my Triumph Tiger Cub motorbike, and after passing my test on it, I moved to a more powerful Triumph Speed Twin. I loved motorbikes simply for the speed and going low when cornering. On the scooter, you couldn't go low. However, at the weekends I'd transformed into a Mod, riding my mate Vespa or Lambretta, and nightclubbing at the Flamingo and the Marquee club. I even ended up going on Ready Steady Go.

I was a Cheltenham teenager in the 60s. I rode both scooters and motorcycles. I remember it as a period of absolute stupidity and avoided the violence by staying away from the town centre. The Mods had the better music and scooters didn’t spew oil over your suede shoes but motorcycles were so much faster and fun to ride.

rockers grew up in a culture of violence etc . it was natural for them . jeans leathers etc nothing to ruin . it was the bikes we worried about not the gear . i think a lot now read about it rather than experiencing it.

I think old people then were more understanding.. which is ironic, cause the old mod and rocker pensioners should be a bit more understanding about young folk now.😂

Would normally take an average of 5 Mods to take on 1 Rocker. Mods were generally cowards and had the most ridiculous flat and boring haircuts...just saying it how it really was.
