First time I heard this one was in the late 80’s, on a white vinyl bootleg, except it was titled “Are You?”. I love “I Didn’t See It Coming”. Great album... but this song, and the rest of those songs on that bootleg are SO MUCH better. Sounds closer to the big raw Pistols style of production. Too bad those songs never made up the first Professionals album they were intended for. This band should have been one of the biggest of the early 80’s.

@sexpistol455 Pete was a huge Sex Pistols fan! He loved there version of Substitute! He said he loved them so much because they were like a young Who. They were powerful,great songs and destroying the normal and bands before them like The Who. He has alot of respect towards Steve Jones.

Definitely Cook n Jones were the heart n soul of the Pistols, apart from Lydon at the front. Some say Matlock was the driving force on bass. Not really, he knew how to write a song and do some good bass rhythms. But apparently he hated punk, and Jones and Cook struggled to keep Pistols going in the punk rock direction. Apparently if it had been up to Matlock Pistols might of ended up sounding more like Led Zeppelin than punk.

Great song with the pure "Cook'n'Jones" sound. It's Andy Allen on bass on this track, Paul Myers joined after Allen was fired (because of his hair ...)

Woah! yea the US Bombs ripped off this song pretty badly as the similarities to this gem and the Bombs We Are The Problem tune is undeniable. I'll take it as paying homage to Jones and Cook and leave it at that as I love the Bombs till death and beyond as much as I love the Pistols and J & C and the Professionals.
