Fun fact. Moon actually completes 13 sidereal rotations around earth in one solar year.

Indeed.
@InventTwig3 жыл бұрын
@@NileshOak how can there be 13 sidereal rotation?? do you mean 13 full moons & 13 New moons?
@NileshOak3 жыл бұрын
@@InventTwig Do you understand 'sidereal' rotation? If you do, comprehending the rest is as simple as 1+1 = 2. Focus on 'sidereal rotation' and then the length of the sidereal lunar month. Then do the math.

Dr. Nilesh, we Sundanese also have knowledge of astonomy from thousands of years ago..i wonder if this knowledge comes from Hindu civilization? Bcz our skies here are covered w clouds, we are not a natural sky observers.. Most of us, in modern times, dont even care of what happen up there.. let alone researching astronomy..sad😖

Not for so long ago (before the uniformity of national development came) we Javanese still use "penampakan rasi bintang waluku" to determine the time of the beginning of the rice planting period. So yes, we were use astronomy (pranata masa) for our agriculture.

We Javanese have cycle of days in 5 (pasaran = day for market), 7 (week), 30 (wuku), 35 (selapan, which is common day and pasaran cycle back). (I've heard also that there was cycle of 2, 3, 4 and 6 days but was not exist anymore). Was the complex date calculation came from Hindu civilization?

Yes there are lots of cycle of day but nolesh oak only mentioned astronomical cycles ....

Namaskar Can you explain the 35 days cycle as explained in Javanese calendar? Thank you.
@masdhut2 ай бұрын
@@NileshOakThe 35-day cycle is a combination of the 7 (week) and 5-day (market) cycles. The 7-day cycle: Radite, Soma, Anggara, Budha, Wrespati, Sukra, Saniscara. The 5-day market cycle: Legi/Manis, Pahing, Pon, Wage, Kliwon. So, the 35-day cycle: Radite-Legi, Soma-Pahing, Anggara-Pon, ... etc.

Can you please explain how the length of tithi is measured. We know that tithis are not of equal length.

There is a method to madness. Follow the course. Nothing is of equal length in astronomy and Calendar.

What a great knowledge...thanks Nilehji..as an amateur iam asking two question which is 1. if Ecliptic is "path of sun as as observed from earth" that means we can at given time can only see 180° that is half of the path so we can observe only half nakshtras at a time say night, then how we can say that this planet is in this nakshatra? 2. During day time due to sun we can't see any nakshtra or star how do we know where is which nakshtra and sun position in which nakshtra on that day?

Waiting for it... I am att confused with these things... Can you include that how come at least gujarati hindu calendar matches with the gregorian calendar every 19 years??? My birthdate matches with my birth tithi every 19 years... Also I need to understand this subject of hindu calendar for doing Dharmik vidhis, upvaas etc... Never two hindu calendar agree on one tithi and I am att confused why n how? And don't forget to send me a reminder when you are liveing on KZbin...
