Looks like control surface lockout. You can only get back so far before flow surfaces stall and control surface effectiveness is lost. Maybe a much stiffer torque hinge if you want to keep it a passive design. Amazing piloting and landing skills!

I wonder if you had a pair of motors in holes in the wing (rotor disks parallel to wing plane) close to the center if they could lift it enough to reduce curvature of the wing and take strain off the joint during transition.

If you would have cut the motors the front would've dropped down into forward fight know counter intuitive lol and just stopping the motors on one side would've pulled you outa that spin the wing on one side lifting the other diving then in a vertical position lower pressure on the wing could have have rotated easier hind sight though really cool vtol airplane concept
