I just can't resist to say that I'm totally blown by the skills presented here, that's a true craftsmanship and art of creating new soundscapes from the building blocks. This is how peak performance looks like. Clearly, the ones complaining about "pseudo knob twisting" don't have a slightest clue on what's happening on the mixer.

I absolutely love this guy. I would like to be one of those geeks who stands behind him while he's mixing to try and figure out what the hell he's doing. Listening to this on my what to the polling station - Labour obvs! I watch these sets and half of me gets inspired and thinks - right I fancy a mix. The other half thinks, give it up Ian - you'll never be that good! 🤣 Thanks so much. Please never stop mixing/producing! Your work is massively appreciated! PS - I will never forget you for introducing me to Oliver Ho - Smoke which I now put in my own sets and pretend to my friends that I discovered! 😂😂😂 Keep up the amazing work! 👍👍👍👍

If you know what all the tracks are you can unpick any mix. Doesn't mean you can repeat it tho. It's a stunning mix. You never know how prepared they are. Does it matter? Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

Seems like a lot of people don’t actually know what’s going on because maybe they’ve never actually had experience mixing more than two tracks at a time, or haven’t mixed at all. If that’s someone’s personal preference who’s mixed before then sure you’re entitled to that. But trust me, he’s definitely utilizing the decks and mixer to its fullest

most people don't get sound layering and they most likely don't have a ear for that either. But if you had a big uncovered rack bouncing over the equipment, little they'd care about the knobs you're twisting.

Good techno DJs dont smile. But why is that? Because what they play is a reflection of the world they are feeling. The more complex this picture is, the more the music is not about having fun, but about survival and finding the energy to go on.

@RC75 Жыл бұрын
A friend of me does the same thing, touching the knobs all the time. I asked him why because I don’t touch them so much and he said he does it to stay focused and feel the rhythm of his set. Almost every beat he is touching something, a bit of a habit or a tick nervous.
@Modwerks Жыл бұрын
I can honestly tell you that every touch of the mixer is relevant. There are three decks playing most of the time so blending the dynamics between each of them can mean lots of very small adjustments to the EQs and filters (else it can all potentially turn into a very dense, over-saturated mess very quickly). i.e. I'm technically using the EQ knobs and filters as faders, pulling out and/or introducing frequencies to the sound-field gradually. (I'm far too long-in-the-tooth to waste my energy twiddling the controls for no reason ! 😉) ✌
@RC75 Жыл бұрын
@@Modwerks That’s why I don’t touch them so much. (I think) Far too old with my almost 48 years. I need to catch a breath after mixing 2 tracks😂.
