MODX Library Tip: Memory Management Yamaha Montage

Many times you want one single Part/Performance/Patch from your Yamaha MODX/Montage Library and want to delete the rest.
But if you don't do it right--you end up with NOTHING!! NOTHING I TELL YA!!
No sound, or as you'll see in the video, a "Zombie" Performance that has a name, has all the menus, but makes no sound. A real Zombie!
In this "How To" vid I'll show you the secret technique that allows the saving of a single sound -- aka Performance in Yamaha speak, but also known as Patch/File/Sound -- from a Library that you can then delete to open up space in your User Bank.
Very helpful for MODX users who have just under 1 GB of space in the User Bank.

This is fantastic. Your video came up randomly in my You Tube feed and I’m grateful it did. I just hit liked and subscribed. Question - what if I want to save the entire Bosendoffer library in this fashion. Could I still delete the other file to make room for additional new libraries. This was super helpful! Thanks! Edit: When I try to import just the Chick Mark V single performance, I get "Sample memory full" error. But when I go into Utility--> Data Utility I have 2 libraries: Chick's Mark V at 401 MB and Montage Expanded at 175 MB.

I have another question. I saved my User file to a thumb drive as a Library. Then I take that Library and load it into our church's MODX. I don't do this as a User bank because I don't want to blow away their User bank...other people add to it. Why is my Library almost 500 MB in size? Shouldn't it just be performances and not samples? When I save a Backup file it's a gigabyte because I have Chick's library installed, so that's understandable. The third time I went to load a library into the church MODX it said "Sample memory full" so I had to delete some older libraries. If my personal Library is only using the MODX's onboard samples, why is it so big? Hope someone can help. I only have 4 MB of custom samples loaded.

It’s real bad made that sounds get empty as you make more and more performances. This Yamaha could have done much better when they made the instrument.
