Also the fact that it’s Mio doing it. She’s got cunning to spare but she’s too nice to use it, and I think it was tearing her up to do this to everyone. More so when she finally reveals the deception and looking at Noah’s bloodied hand just how desperately they tried while she was forced to keep away. They were in that cell for a month, missing her terribly and fearing for both their executions, and she couldn’t even check in on them without arousing suspicion. They all went through hell there.

I feel like it's on purpose, M probably hasn't played a flute in quite a while since becoming Moebius, but she is trying to make N and the ouroboros believe she's Mio so she's doing her best. In phase 2 she's starting to get a hang of it again.

One thing I noticed is how the flutes kinda reflect N and M. In the beginning with phase 1, both Kevesi and Agnian flutes are mostly playing with each other, but the Agnian flute will occasionally diverge. By the time of the first minute, the Agnian flute plays solo and with the second minute, the Agnian flute plays almost against the Kevesi flute. Especially with phase 2, the Agnian flute almost feels as if calling out against or towards the Kevesi flute that plays the same melody as the Moebius chanting most of the time. Eventually, the Agnian flute is completely removed within the climax portion while only the Kevesi flute plays. I know Monolithsoft is pretty five-head, but to hear the story of N and M reflected in this battle song is pretty crazy to me. GOD I LOVE XENOBLADE 3 😭😭

The final boss against Z Moebius is infuriating because it DOES mute the chain attack theme, so it's possible to do without fucking with the game's dynamic music system but Monolith just... doesn't give you the option. At least in the 1.0.1 release.

It’s interesting that the flute is high-pitched and intense and settles down for the conclusion, it seems like it’s trying to communicate how M is feeling in the moment. With context, the mournful panicked and intense play, and it settling in towards the end and becoming more resolute would make sense.

The music itself is hinting to us that M & Mio had actually switched bodies before the actual reveal has taken place.

And then how the entire 6th chapter started with all that background info on what happened with M and N, I was mindblown. This hits different for both how the fight appears and how it is. Spoilers below. It seems we're fighting M, the one Moebius turned against her will. The flute goes with the melody to show how she's been forced into this life and into consuming life to stay alive, but it also sharply contrasts with the low, rapid, menacing tone of the Moebius battle theme. She hates this life, she wants to be free of it, she wants to die. Then the flute is rapidly cut off at 2:18 when the cacophonous laughter kicks in, because ultimately, M was manipulated and forced into this role by the other Moebius, especially N. Her free will was overridden and drowned out. In reality, we're fighting our Mio. The flute is likely her desperate attempts to remain in control in this new, immortal, powerful body. She's trying not to kill the party, and the almost shrill sounding flute highlights that dedication to maintaining control, even as she's using M's incredibly powerful ability to tear the party apart and maintain the lie she's had to adapt to in seconds. And then we get to that same laughter drowning everything out, because ultimately she has to play the role of Moebius to perfection and completely crush Noah and everyone else's hope until M's Homecoming, and the flute becomes less shrill and more low/controlled as she adapts to the role she has to play. It then continues into the second phase and beyond as the flute takes on a more even tone with the Moebius Interlink theme. This track is beyond incredible and highlights so many complex aspects of this section of story. I can't praise it enough.

Miyabi didn't die. She remembers Sena and Mio, something that Cammuravi and Ethel only have vague memories of, alongside Mwaba and Hackt. That's why Y used her to control Cam, since she was the only stable puppet left.

So I didn't actually catch on to wtf eclipse soul did at first before the cutscene, so *IMAGINE* my shock when I see her randomly just start standing still, taking single digit damage, and the game then just inexplicably boots control of Noah from me (with no debuff sound cue that i noticed). I was expecting a cutscene to trigger where she just obliterates Noah any second the whole fight because I never noticed what she was actually doing at first, which honestly made it SO MUCH more threatening

I dont think you can get a game over in this battle I refused to use a chain attack so I could hear it, but then all my characters died Except Noah and Mio, who never went below 5 health and just regenerated (despite all my healers being down)

It's actually a subtle clue as to what's *really* going on at this point in the story. LATE GAME SPOILERS: *M* was never an off-seer, but *Mio* was. The flute being added to the normal Moebius theme is a clue to hint to us that we're actually fighting *Mio* here, rather than M. By this point, M has actually swapped bodies with Mio, so that M is pretending to be our Mio, and Mio is pretending to be M, all in order to dupe N into killing M while thinking that he had actually killed Mio. This is further hinted at during the month that the party spends inside of a cell, as "Mio" never once refers to Noah by name, because he's not "her" Noah....N is. And when Mio finally reveals the ruse and that she was in M's body the entire time, she calls Noah by name to further confirm that she is, in fact, "our" Mio and not M.

Between Mio potentially interlinking _as Noah_ with _M_ during the cutscene, and now Mio, as Noah, wielding Lucky Seven, Eclipse Soul allows for Mio to do some crazy stuff that shouldn't be possible.

@@angeldude101 I mean, it’s shown later on that while opposites, Ouroboros and Moebius aren’t mutually exclusive (just see Noah and Mio’s Irises right before the end of the game) so theoretically if the body is “marked” as Ouroboros, switching into that body would allow you to interlink, as to why Mio kept her Ouroboros powers while in M’s body, it could be that the Soul is also “marked” for being Ouroboros, same would apply for Moebius

i like how the flute sometimes follows the chorus, sometimes completely overshadows it, but sometimes completely deviates. Like it could be trying to say that M is deviating from the other Moebius in motivation. Important to also note is that N in this scene doesn't get his own special music, its just the moebius phase 2
