That 20 year old gun is amazing though lol. The aerial ship heavily depended on its shields for not being dead, which had to be powered by a external source I.E. Space elevator. The guns of Stonehenge was the closest you could get to a literal glass cannon. It once shots everything but gets one shoted itself by overwhelming numbers. With a garrison of air-support and ground troops though the Stone hedge can be VERY Powerful.

The story was... well it was something, it certainly wasn't cohesive. Gameplay, mission variety, and audio was all top notch though so it was still pretty damn good. About the only things they could improve on were some better story writing, more VR support, and some form of co-op (seriously, would pay another $60 for a co-op campaign)

I used the F-15C with PLSL. Mowing down ground targets with lasers, guns and sometimes missiles tore through my ammo, and by the end of the mission I had one MSSL left as all my ammo

Interesting... Your allies' missiles seem to hit enemies, but do none to very little damage. You still needed to put 2 missiles into enemy fighter to destroy it, even though it was hit by your ally missile beforehand.

They do that so you won't get your points stolen by allies taking kills, plus it feeds your ego when you get to wipe out every enemy solo ;)

AC7 is intended to be a complete love letter to the older PS2 games. You go to a lot of locales from those games, see a lot of fun references and easter eggs, and the ending made me tear up at how amazingly it fit a character in. You're right that it looks very familiar, but wrong that the games haven't changed. There's more mechanics here and just an overall polish that could only come from this current gen or later, polish that the PS2 games unfortunately couldn't have. Basically, it's a "if it's not broken, don't fix it" situation. It's meant to be familiar while also fine tuning the old formula so newcomers enjoy themselves as well.

I expected they would kill the Arsenal Bird from, like, half a continent away when I heard they're gonna use the gun, tho. But this could be because of the previous bombardment, and the gun couldn't be brought to its full capacity in time.

They fully intended to take out the Arsenal Bird from a distance, but the Eruseans move the weapon into close range to ensure that Stonehenge never fires. Once the survey vehicles are destroyed, Osea has to fire manually. Erusea basically screwed themselves by flying the weapon so close, but it's the result of both sides of the war getting desperate.

The Arsenal Bird also has a shield that can prevent pretty much all damage. They need a massive gun to take it down. The Arsenal Bird you take down later in the game is a sort of last ditch effort kill. In the story, this first kill happens when Trigger isn't well known or seen as an Ace. The second kill happens when Trigger has established he can take down even the strongest drones and pilots, so when the saturation attack fails, they do their best and rely on Trigger to hit the AB with precise strikes while also affecting its shields/power source (the Lighthouse).

As you can see on Mission 19, Operation Daredevil. Trigger targeted all of the propeller including the Main Propeller. They were destroyed. After some second, Count pointed out that the Main Propeller have started to move again
