Thank you! Really great instructions. Told me everything I need to know. I found a stud for one end, so this is how I want to do it, too. The order of putting the secure mount first then the stud makes sense. Except I'm going to try to install it on 15/16" combo wallboard-plaster in an older house. Hate to drill a hole, but since it's in wall and not tile or tub surround, it can be repaired if it doesn't work. Very helpful.

Will that Moen anchor work with all grabs bars or do you have to use a Moen grab bar? I have already purchased matching grabs bars for the client and am wondering it the Moen anchor will work.

Putting two of the three screws in a single stud is not ADA approved. It’s impossible to use all 3 holes on a stud that’s why it needs blocking or those brackets

Will that work for a fiberglass shower?

You forgot to mention that the toggle insert has to be mounted with the arrow straight up.

I went to Lowe's to buy the inch and a quarter drywall hole cutter and they only had some that were marked for cutting wood or metal. I don't know why these can't be used for drywall, but the guy said not to. Your thoughts?

You can use the one for wood or metal. You're only making the one cut, so it will not matter.

what if there is not enough space to pass the anchor up into the hole? my parents live in an apartment where the wall studs are metal. at least in this one bathroom. other side is a closet. so the drywall is thick but the space between is too narrow. 😵💫

Probably need to cut some Sheetrock/Drywall out from the inside of the closet and add some wood blocking to where the grab bar will have something solid to fasten to. Good job for a handyman if you can find one that does good work now that may be another problem.

What thickness was the drywall in your demo? It looked like 5/8. Will it pass code for 1/2 inche? Thanks!
