Isn't weird that the title is "Stop being afraid", it sounds like a support group for victims of Houdini abuse. As a veteran C4D AE motion designer I tried to get inside the Houdini labyrinth, but boy if it was horrifying and the title "Stop being afraid" is very well suited for the fierce and scary Houdini dungeon. I hope your torch could shed some light on the dark, narrow and terrifying staircases of the Houdini castle.

I'm a veteran of C4D and AE too, and I just took the mofo plunge man. Get like 10 baggys of some good greens and prepare your HOUDINI TUT playlist and just munch trough it. Probably the best (and most slacky) thing I've done in a while. But now, with some new grey hairs and a bit of a bigger belly, I can say that I've scratched the nominal surface of this beast.

And after listening to your lecture, Houdini became familiar. This is really amazing. I am confident and very excited that Houdini will power my career. This is the first time this clear lecture.

Thank you for the course. After years of learning Houdini I never really got anything to show, until I bought this course. Many fun stuff with wonderful insight. Only 1 comment is that it would be nice if you can record at a lower resolution screen. Texts and everything in the UI are just so small in your video.

Here's where most people tend to misunderstand the situation of using any software: It's not the software that is hard or easy. It just depends on the level of complexity you are after. If you are trying to paint a hyper-realistic portrait inside MS paint then MS paint becomes really hard. Houdini takes only a couple months to click. That's it. The rest of the hardness is only UPTO YOU. So I don't like it when someone says Houdini is easy. Then everything is easy and everything is hard. It just loses its content when you say it like that.

Love the look of this course. Our current pipeline is Blender>Nuke. Is this geared specifically at C4D artists? Or can it be used for none C4D artists just looking to get into Houdini? If it's the latter, then consider us sold.
@Mograph
@Mograph 3 жыл бұрын
It's geared toward, but not exclusive. The C4D parts are only a small fraction of the workflow. You can skip those and be fine. Or you can watch them and apply the same concepts to round-trips from Blender to Houdini and back. Let us know if you have any other questions. We'll be happy to help. There are sample lessons and full tutorials on our channel if you want to get a feel for Mark's style.

It's C4D oriented because he goes into C4D for a round-trip a number of times, but Maya and Blender artists can still take it, too. Just skip the C4D stuff which is about 10%. You can follow along in your program of choice as well, there's just not a step by step.

Why do you use redshift? while the apprentice version are not supporting it
@Mograph
@Mograph 4 жыл бұрын
We show you both the built-in render engine and Redshift. Redshift is mostly used in C4D in this course. This is because it's the 3rd party engine that most designers are using in this type of workflow. The rendering sections are usually at the end of the chapter and you learn just as much even if it's not your engine of choice.

While I enjoyed the video, the idea that Houdini is easy is undercut a bit by the course you are selling costing $397. if Houdini were easy, your course wouldn't be worth what it is. though I must admit it does look like a good course. not meant as a criticism just an observation mind you as I admire the skill and graft.
@Mograph

Why would a well-outlined, 40-hour course from a master of Houdini who takes you through all the basics up to even the "fun stuff" and constantly updates everything not be worth $397 after the hundreds of hours he spent on it? Just because something is easy doesn't mean it doesn't need to be taught. Once you learn it, it IS easy.

I was really excited to look at this, then you said "I'm making this up as i go" that was a dealbreaker for me. A structured lesson plan and outline of education is superior in an educational situation not an entertainment situation. That line made me think there's going to be a lot of the whole " hey what's up guys, let me tell you about my dog, check out how funny i am," 10 minutes later gets into the lesson. Perhaps that's not how your course is, but that line made it seem so.
