Totally ignorant! Kishori tai explored even semi-classical too, besides classical. Mogubai did not. And he is asking "Aap classical framework main kyun nahi aai?" Does he even understand anything about music? But I thank him for the video.

The interviewer has no idea who he is interviewing. poor guy! I think when interviewing stalwarts like Mogubai ji and Kishori ji the questions should be about music. That is what they know and want to share - I do not think they are interested in sharing their personal life. Though they really tried helping the interviewer. While this may be a bad interview and we are left asking for more, I am glad we atleast found this one.

For example it is often said (especially for Classical musicians) s/he ‘(had a voice) could travel 3 octaves’ I am very rookie listener to classical music, but what I have understood is the best example of this is, when taking a taan, if the musician can actually go from taar -madhyam - mandra (or the reverse) and I have found IMHO only two or three maybe who have recording who can do that - Gaan tapaswini Mogubai and Surashree Kesarbai. The recording for Mogubai has been taken down unfortunately, but that for Kesarbai is still there - Shuddha Kalyan in the alaap taane before the drut laya khyal. These people were supernatural.. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kHzWeIpmgM9ng5Y 30:58 to the three harkats that the sings. (The third person I am saying here is Bade Ghulam Ali Khan)

The interviewer quite frankly didn't know whom he is interviewing. If only he did some research on the two great legendary vocalists, he would have dared not interviewed them in first place, because he practically seems to know nothing about Classical Music. There are many such sub-standard people in India like this interviewer who get great opportunities only because they have contacts with influential people. There is nepotism everywhere. These so called influential people dominating the classical music scene in India are squarely responsible for the decay that we see today in Classical Music especially Hindustani classical music in India in contemporary times.

What a pathetic waste of time! Just about 7 minutes with the great Mogubaiji, and the interviewer doesn't know how to utilise it. She is a direct disciple of Ustad Alladiya Khan Sahab, and so many treasures could have been unearthed, at least scratched on the surface! Instead we have precious seconds wasted on camera adjustments followed by meaningless questions 👎 Really saddened.
