Exactly. You can have somebody's back BY not agreeing with them, because it keeps your actions grounded in reality. For example, If somebody asks you for advice, maybe wanting to get into a relationship with somebody you know to be toxic and abusive, would your advice bead on how to get with that person (probably the thing they want to hear), or would you be straight with them and talk about how it's a terrible idea because you don't want them to get hurt?

@coasterthekid88672 жыл бұрын
I don’t know if you’re doing it on purpose, but you’re completely misrepresenting his point. His problem isn’t with the girls themselves, it’s how chat tends to react to when male and female streamers play with each other. It’s shipping culture that he hates. And it’s honestly understandable, ninja did the same thing. I’d be pissed too if I devoted my life to one woman and there are people on the Internet making fanfics between me and another person because I played with them once in a game.
@coasterthekid88672 жыл бұрын
@DEG05 ASEDILLO Ruben Robert See I think the problem isn’t your response but rather your mindset. When you say you’re bound to promote a culture of sexism and toxic masculinity when all you hear is other men, what you’re actually saying is that you believe that all men are naturally toxic and sexist and need the guidance of women to not be awful people. That kind of mindset builds a culture of superiority between the sexes which is the definition of sexism so…. Also I noticed how you only talk about men and women but completely neglect anybody who doesn’t identify with the “traditional” gender binary. Him banning women doesn’t mean that he bans people who identify as non-binary, gender fluid, androgynous, etc. so the statement that “all he is hearing is other men” is completely unfounded. I believe the real thing that we should be going after here is not him banning women, but that the reasoning he gives, implies that he only recognizes heterosexual relationships. Think about it, he doesn’t want people getting the wrong idea about him playing with women but doesn’t hold that same sentiment for playing with other men. He claims not to be sexist and I think he’s telling the truth, he’s actually homophobic. Sometimes things are more than meets the surface.
@coasterthekid88672 жыл бұрын
@DEG05 ASEDILLO Ruben Robert while sexism it’s definitely still alive in the gaming scene, I think it often overshadows the blatant trans phobia and homophobia that runs rampant through twitch and KZbin. It shows with the fact that many people can still get away with saying extremely homophobic and trans phobic insults and slurs whereas if they said something similar about a woman or another race, they would be instantly obliterated from the Internet. I mean seriously, it’s 2022 and 13 US states still have a ban on same-sex marriage. I just personally think it’s worth so much more to go after the system rather then the people affected by it. Through my personal journey, I’ve noticed that it’s really ineffective to be aggressive and antagonistic towards others that hold discriminatory beliefs, because there much more likely to double down and believe that they’re right if you try to force them to change by telling them they’re wrong. It’s much more useful to go after the source of their beliefs, or the system that produced the environment that allows hatred to grow. Please in the future do your best to promote positivity and help those hurting. Fighting fire with fire burns everybody around and likewise fighting hatred with hatred will never allow for an environment where love and understanding can develop.

I don't know how to phrase this but as a female viewer of Lud, videos like these seem so rare in this genre, it feels like unless I'm watching KZbinrs who very specifically brand themselves as feminist or leftist, most men seem to just go "yeah yeah ig sexism is bad but instead of actually acknowledging it and coming to terms with it I'm going to make a joke and then complain that it keeps getting brought up". I've met tons and tons of guys who on the surface are like Lud but the moment women get added to the conversation we're instantly sub-human, it's so frustrating trying to be in gaming circles yet constantly disrespected by people I called friends. I don't think I can count the number of times I've gotten "this is why I don't play with girls" from people I genuinely considered friends because I said a comment they made was sexist. Anyway, thanks Lud for admitting his own flaws but also making this video and showing that sexism isn't just one gender's issue, which is kinda sad that this all had to be said cause you'd think it'd be common sense but the bar is on the floor I suppose...

The interesting part here is when Tarik offered actual advice on how he could fix this, JasonR wouldn't listen at all and still insists that Tarik is an L friend. Personally I think what Tarik was doing was the characteristic of a good friend - not condoning your friend's bad actions and instead trying to give advice on how to fix it. Also, Roza gave a take similar to what JasonR insists Tarik should give, and then JasonR claims that he was "backed up" by Roza. But when he was pushing Tarik to do the same thing, he's insisting that he doesn't necessarily want Tarik to "back him up" but instead be a "witness of his character". So basically JasonR wants Tarik to back him up but is being really vague about it. And it's ironic how he's saying Tarik isn't backing him up because of Tarik's huge fanbase/viewership when to me, it looks like JasonR wants to use Tarik's huge viewership to "fix" his image. JasonR is literally the L friend- gaslighting Tarik, not listening to his advice, talking behind his back, literally lying about his intentions, trying to use his viewership, etc.

I think you nailed it by explaining that now we obviously know that these things aren't acceptable that we can't tolerate people thinking that just because they aren't being at that maximum level, they are excused from having any belief of racism, sexism, antisemitism, etc.

Think this guy needs to realise that times are and have massively changed. We are here to stay and enjoy gaming and the internet regardless of gremlins like this guy that exist. It’s not boys vs girls and all that petty stuff anymore .. the world has moved on and people are trying to be equal. This guy and his way of thinking will get left behind and forgotten. Thank you for this Lud. Gives me hope when any guy talks about stuff like this for a better future for everyone.
