On the flip side, stunts like these do cause some of the general people to look into who Muhammad ibn Abdul-Wahhab is due to all the fuss. He if anything as a means has indirectly enabled plenty amongst the general folk to turn their curiosity towards the sheikhs work. I know this as I had the same experience when I saw some of what hijab had to say in the past which was very foolish and I turned to looking into the other side of the argument and checked out doubts around the dawah on the opposite side of what he critisized against the salafis and thus if anything it bought me towards salafiyyah. It may have zero impact for many too but at least plenty will be guided as well. So it's not all bad as there is always good in somthing bad, Alhamdulillah. However keep defending the truth as that is needed for justice and clarity.

The problem is not with Sh Abdulwahhab but rather with the way his followers inflated his status amongst scholars.
