I remember when I used to watch Discovery channel Wings back in somewhere around 2001 or 2002 when I was 9,10 years old. Discovery Channel- Wings and EXTREME MACHINES were my favourite shows in entire TV channels and shows. I first saw the F117 plane and the B-2 Bomber plane on Discovery Channel and I was so fascinated by their single wing like design, that I was inspired and decided to become a mechanical engineer in those days only. Discovery kids was also my second favourite show.
I was stationed at Alconbury, between 1988-90. They were phasing out the F-5, and getting the A-10's.

Documentaries and science films and shows were the best on the Discovery Channel.

A wonderful look back at the spies in the sky, if this is the standard we had during the recent years,(recent to me anyway) you have to wonder what we have available in the “sneaky beaky” arsenal of today, we all hear about drones and satellites but that is what we are allowed to know about. Most of these systems were in use during my 20+years in the RAF, and seem like the equivalent of a modern home PC, and knowing the advances that were coming into service when I retired I have to wonder what there is still to be invented. Thanks for a great upload, from a time when Wings was a real documentary/history channel, and no dam reality shows. Perhaps I am showing my age but to me these years from the sixties to the turn of the century were a different (obviously) age, an age where things were more clear cut, we knew who the enemy was and political correctness was when a politician actually managed not to lie. What I would have given for a back seat trip in an SR-71, just to experience its speed and see the curved horizon from the edge of space, alas that can never be, I bet the Blackbird pilots never got sick of seeing such a awesome view from their office window.

Why would the enemy need to spy? They can just watch shows like this.
