Moheener Ghoraguli band members talk about Gautam Chattopadhyay (Gautam Chatterjee or Monida) who founded the band with friends, cousins, brothers 38 years ago in Kolkata. Moheener Ghoraguli was the first Bengali folk-rock band that performed original music from 1976 to 1981. I made this video to thank my late brother who continues to inspire me.

In Bangladesh we love gautam da with our guru azam khan... and consider them as the pioneer of bangla band music... gautam da was superbly talented, and his thinking was at least 30 years advanced... how can he realised all the things we are thinking now. amazing... Our leading bands shironamhin and other bands frequently cover his songs and remember him with great respect.... salute to u gautam da... aro kisu din bachte parten.... 51 years khubi kom hoye gese....

I regret of not having born in that era. Gautam Chattopadhyay and his creations will live on forever..He captured his time in a manner like no other contemporaries. We are indebted to him for giving us the iconic 'Mohiner Ghoraguli', a band whose contribution to Bengali music cannot be ignored and remains as relevant as ever.

যতই জেনেছি ততই মুগ্ধতা বেড়েছে #গৌতম_দার ব্যাপারে .... স্যালুট দাদা, অসাধারন গানের কথা আর সূর শুধু #মনি_স্যারের মতো গ্রেটদের কাছ থেকেই পাওয়া যাবে .... গুরু তোমার জন্য গহীনের ভালোবাসা ...... ***** অন্যরকম অনুভূতি ****** দিশেহারা যে মোর মন, কিসে সার্থক এ জীবন? খুঁজে ফিরি কোথা নেব ঠাঁই। ছিল বন্ধু এক আমার পেলেম হঠাৎ দেখা তার, ভবঘুরে চালাচুলো নাই। তবু খুশীর হাসির রেশ ঠোঁটে হয়না যে তার শেষ কি তার দাম সে করেইনি যাচাই। মনে ভাবনা তবু ঘিরে রয়েছে সদাই এত চাওয়া নিয়ে কোথা যাই। শোনো যদি কোনোদিন আমি হঠাৎ ভাবনাহীন রাখিনি কোনো যে ঠিকানাই। জেনো খোঁজা আমার শেষ তাই হলেম যে নিরুদ্দেশ সাথে করে শুধু হৃদয়টাই।। মনে ভাবনা তবু ঘিরে রয়েছে সদাই এত চাওয়া নিয়ে কোথা যাই........

Amar jonmo 1985, kintu Amar Ma Baba r favorite Mohineer Ghoraguli r gaan, ebong tader association with Pradeep kaku while they worked together in Libya, we used to fondly call him “gonf kaku “ ( moustache uncle ), I am immensely enthralled by the band. I still look up online , searching facts about Mohiner Ghoraguli. Brings back happy memories!
