First time backpacking overnight and a solo trip at Mohican State Park. When I went to register, all the sites were booked. I headed over to site 3 and asked the couple there if I could drop down to the river side and setup there. Great night!!!

I love Mohican but I’m struggling to find decent dispersed camping in the area. I wanna find a really remote place where you can just set up, kinda like NW fishing secrets.

Great video. I've been to Mohican a number of times over the last few years. Mohican is a great place and you choose an awesome area for your first trip. Thanks for posting and I will be watching.

Thank you!! I've been watching your Shawnee 46 Climbs series. That's some nasty weather. Thank you for watching, I've got one more video I'm editing now and hoping to get back to Oil Creek before the end of the year. Thanks again, -dave

@@SinchuwusOutside I've not had the opportunity to head to Oil Creek, but I intend to soon myself. Thanks for watching those videos; it was a worthy cause.

Nice video! I think we were hiking in as you were heading out. Looking forward to following your backpacking adventures. I think the view point you give is a nice change from the veteran guys. Plus your in my neck of the woods!

I love it there. Give them a quick call before you go. The last I heard they still had the trails and backpack sites closed from the tornado that ran through there. Enjoy it there if you go, so many options!!! If you see me there definitely say hello!!!

Just now discovering your channel. Want to do a backpacking overnight trip to Mohican with 13 year old son this summer. We are local in Ohio as well. What would be best place for us to set up camp? And do you have any advice for planning?

I commented on another one of your comments about the sites. Planning, I always look at weather. The nice thing about Mohican is you’re usually close enough to your car that you can bail if you need to. Have a filter for water or pack enough in for the night. I download as many maps as I can and I use a GPS app. I use Gaia. I pre lab my route first before I go. I watch as many videos as I can about the place I’m going and note landmarks along the trail to ensure I’m still going the right direction. Let me know how I can help.

Awesome site! Are there any sites at mohican that have alot of pine trees around it?
@SinchuwusOutside
@SinchuwusOutside 2 жыл бұрын
Your best site for that is site 5. Pines on one side of the trail and deciduous on the other side. That’s one of my favorite sites there.

Man I’m having trouble. Where do I find the camp site you were at. When I go to the site it says Mohican campground 2 but don’t seem to see any spots like that

I parked at the trailhead for the park and pack at the beginning of the bridle trail on route 97. Head down the trailhead to the right and when you get to the T in the trail you’ll see a post pointing to the left for sites 2 and 3. Go left and about a mile you’ll get to Pine Run Creek, cross it. As soon as you cross it site 3 is on your left. The place I camped was further down from 3. If you continue down the trail past camp 3 you’ll hit Pine Run Creek again. Don’t cross it, make a left into the woods and follow the creek. You’ll run right into that “site” about 200 yards up. I hope this helps and let me know if you found it.
