Mohican State Park machine built a new Mountain Bike Trail in addition to the already existing 24 miles of trails. There are about 8 additional miles to ride with a skills course right by the Mohican Lodge.

The original 24 mile Mohican loop was built using a man made machine of sorts. "On or off the record." There were very few people involved in the design and build of the original big loop. After it got big and more popular suddenly the Forestry got involved around some of the bridges and how they were installed and designed. Mohican SP was originally a 8/9 mile section - out and back from the Rt 3 Trailhead/parking lot, then extended from the hard right turn before the campground and long section of pine trees. No I was not involved in the build or design of the original trail, just someone who's been riding there for a very long time.

I love Mohican raced there many times. Haven’t checked out the new trails yet. Looks seriously fun, except for the one thing that kills me about flow trail…smooth. We had a local trail here in Michigan take out all the rough rocks and roots and replace with smooth flow trail. Riding a bunch of Whoopee do’s isn’t fun 😅

This is cool. I didn’t know about this addition. Cool they have a few “downhill sections” in that skills area. Speaking of downhill, Aren’t there some tech downhill sections on the old Mohican trails? Curious if you’ve ridden them and your thoughts. I think I need to make a trip up there soon

There sure are! That trail is actually called Mohican Wilderness. I believe there is a gray area if you are technically allowed to ride there or not.

So, I’m Ohio born and the trails look like fun and miss the dirt trails. I honestly don’t find any of the trails challenging mainly for the reason I moved to New Mexico, and we have some brutal heavy rock invested trails to battle, secondly the altitude is another contender. Overall, I would say that this trail and scenery is beautiful. Have fun and be safe.

I watched the video and was wondering if anyone has taken hand cycles on them. I have a new Handcycle more of a gravel set up and was wondering if these are wide enough for a Handcycle.

Sure is! You can get to it from the main loop but it's best to access it at the Lodge

@@OhioMTBTrails thanks only been to Mohican once and I think I parked south east corner. Man what a wake up call 26 miles was. Awesome that they had a company come in and make this. Between this, cowbell being made with fresh dirt, and even horns hill Columbus has some good stuff

Horns hill and Cowbell are definitely more advanced than the trails in this video but all are a lot of fun

Absolutely right on about yielding Kim! I think everyone wants to peacefully share the land and there is plenty of signage to make sure everyone does just that.

I like that the newest trails have the arches at the crossings, both the keep horses off the bike trails and warn the bikers to watch out. I could wish for fewer crossings in such a big park, though...
