This is a genuine prodigy who was lucky enough to be handed a bass guitar in childhood and has grown into a surpassing performer of huge talent and jazz sophistication. Not only that, she's adding important material to a style of jazz fusion that is both new and very familiar to those of us who loved the best of the '70s fusion as well. Best of all her most complex fusion choices are still very musical to the ear. What a gift she is!

I remember meting her at Mumbai airport 2 years ago and giving hr a pin badge of a charity I play for called Merseycats. She was flying on the same plane as me to Bangalore. What a lovely young lady and so talented. This is the first time I have heard her play, and what a treat. Musicianship is not a competition it’s a family who look after each other and never give a negative comment about another musician. That’s the way it works in Liverpool anyway.

Zonak Mahanta you are correct. I didn’t mean to imply they do. And I see the silliness of that. Just as silly as women with peacock tattoos 😉 As I said, her hair seems to have a life of its own. Like some wild animal. When I referred to her being a Lioness I only meant that she is fierce. My phrasing definitely implies a lack of biological understanding that I assure you I possess.

Cherry Snow no. If you do your research, you will see it is her hair. She has styled it that way for some time. Natural born Indian women do not tend to have hair twisted and curled that way. Nevertheless, it defines her persona along with her accent in English which has diversified since she started getting more recognition a few years ago. I cannot recall an Indian lady getting that much status playing such a eclectic musical instrument in years. I hope she goes far. One thing for sure, we will remember her for more than her look.

Wow. She's amazing. So, creative! And her hair is too! I would love to be able to do that! Let's see, if I start learning today I estimate I should be able to do what she's doing...NEVER - E V E R in my wildest dreams!!☺✌

She's a beast, plays so clean (not so here) and in the pocket while playing along with a song and with the band. Here, maybe she was just not prepared or got exhausted from previous songs or gigs. Or maybe she isn't used to playing solos and not ready herself. As a drummer I know Pro Drummers who are not good in solos but plays very musical as they enhance the song not just the right beat but also with sweet fills at the right time. Just slow down on your negative comments, though I also see ur point. But she is still young and this solo doesn't really represent her musical skills, and I can trully say she is very musical. Go watch more Live Coke Videos of her. Btw, I'm not Indian so I'm not admiring her because of ethnicity/culture.

Madness has its own charm and following !! 95% of those commenting here wouldn't be able to decipher whag she played, but then everyone wants to appear western. My simple questions are: did u understand what she played? Most importantly, did u really enjoy what she played?

I can 100% guarantee that all of the negative commentors have 0% talent, can't or won't develop the discipline to learn and are just straight up jealous of this young bass phenom!

a LOOOOOOTTTTT of mistakes, notes that sound really BAD , its like she is playing faster of what she can....... but if you play bass 14 years and you say "hey, there are a lot of mistakes here" is beacause "you have 0% talent" ?? WTF, haters gonna hate, fanboys gonna defend anything. Fuck off

@@goex4881 I don't get it either. It is technically interesting, but quite awful to listen to for any prolonged period. It is a thin and robotic sounding mess.

@@cincocharms1233 technically this is meh... a lot of notes sounds really bad...if you cant play fast just play something slower but make it sounds good... she remembers me the people playing guitar for a year..they want to play faster and faster but every note sounds bad.
