I'm like, normally pretty against isnta-love in fiction, but man. This scene is so good that it just sucks you right in. The song, Ewan McGregor's angel voice, their chemistry, the insane editing. So many years later and I still love every aspect of this film! My absolute favourite Baz Luhrmann film. Hands down. The sets bewitched me as a child and still do as an adult. The singing doesn't feel out of place or take you out of the drama. It just all feels right 🥰

Watched this with my wife-to-be, during a time when we were dearly in love, drawing closer and closer, long before things fell apart between us. Christian and Satine were like mirrors of each of our spirits. At the time, so amazed at our luck finding each other, so hopeful of what the future might hold. You know, I've commented this many times before, but every time I've heard this version in the past, it always sounded like McGregor flubbed his line at 'What I really mean'. It always sounded to me like he was actually saying 'Well, I really love you' which throws off the rhyme scheme, but everyone has insisted the line is the same as the original. After listening to this version hundreds of times, I finally heard it correctly. I think what threw me off all this time is that he sings the word 'really' in a way that sounds like he's saying two words instead of one. Okay, the general public was right. The line did not change. I've just been mishearing it this whole time. Either way, this is still a fantastic cover, so whatever.
