Mohrs Circle is a graphical representation general state of stress at a point. It is useful in visualizing the relationship between normal and shear stresses on an element.
Stress conditions during a triaxial compression test can be beautifully represented using Mohr's circle. In this video tutorial, we will see how to use the Mohr circle to determine total shear stress parameters C and phi. For this, we will a numerical mohrs circle.

Hi this video is very helpful thank you. Love it !! ❤ I wanna ask, is there any difference between cohesion from direct shear compared to cohession from triaxial test within the same sample ?

Thank you! Ideally there should be no difference but if we change the type of instruments some difference might come

Thank You. Rock triaxial is similar in concept but done with different instruments so process may vary. Will make a video in future for sure.

C is just a value, it can be anything.

@@CuriousCivilEngineer did you perform TRIAXIAL CD TEST on NC SOIL THE MAIN REASON IS THAT WHEN YOUR DRAINAGE IS OPEN THERE IS NO POSSIBLITY OF COHESION BETWEEN PARTICLES BECAUSE OF MOBILITY OF WATER THIS IS THE ANSWER FOR C=0.

Hey hii. You are absolutely right. actually I didn't perform that test. It's just a example I have taken from book. The purpose was to explain the numerical procedure, that's it.

C=0 because material exhibit no cohesion ,such as dry sand.
